We are reopened after our closure for the new kitchen floor! Bar open now / Kitchen reopening at 2pm 🍺

Well that was an experience! However after 4 days of very hard work by numerous people we will be open tomorrow from 12pm. Many thanks to all at GL Floors and those at B&M joiners who were amazing in extraordinary circumstances, I can’t recommend them enough! Thanks to all our guys too, that’s a shift!
We may have a limited menu to begin with but we will have our sandwiches, fish & chips, burgers and steak pie from the start. All the rest of the prep will get done through the day and we’ll be on a full menu for the evening service!
We’re never doing that again by the way!

Some stunning new art has gone up in our side room today by - Mix of pastels & acrylics - Trees from places in Edinburgh and beyond. So nice to see Robert again (this is his 3rd exhibition here!). The Macallan’s duo on our bar, featured today on our Whisky Wednesday post, are both 12 year old Highland single malts. A double cask & a Sherry oak cask beautifully crafted with richness and complexity. Delicious! 🥃

Whisky Wednesday is back with two new arrivals into the bar. 🥃

The Skiren, single malt (on the left) is known as their honeyed tropical one because of its smooth, creamy sweetness with a hint of tropical fruit, citrus and coastal heather. It is exclusively matured in first-fill American Oak Casks, selected by Scapa artisans.

The Glansa, single malt whisky (on the right) is a light smoky whisky aged initially in American oak before being finished in ex-peated-whisky casks. The result is fruity and creamy whisky with notes of peach, vanilla, caramel and soft smoke.

Two fine additions to our whisky shelf I am sure you will agree!

Lunchtime! Serving all our lunchtime favourites- soup of the day is Pea, broccoli & Blue Murder (blue cheese) with herby crotons. Great food in The Canonmills area of Edinburgh near the Botancial gdns east gate!

New arrivals this week! A young but deliciously smooth offering from the people at Bimber Distillery London. This distillery is rapidly gaining an excellent reputation. The Ardnamurchan Sherry Cask release lightly peated and beautifully balanced by the use of Sherry casks. The Glenallallachie 18 speaks for itself and the new Touchstone from Foursquare joins its Exceptional Cask Series buddies on the back bar the 2010 and the Elysium.
