We are delighted to be bringing ultrafast full-fibre broadband to Stirling 🤗

💻 More than 3,400 homes and businesses in the Eastern Villages of now have state-of-the-art broadband following the completion of a major network programme.

Ultrafast broadband, capable of speeds of up to 2Gbps, has been installed in , and as part of the Eastern Villages Full Fibre network project, with the final phase completed this week, linking and Business Park.

The eight-month programme was led by Lothian Broadband, with Stirling Council contributing £100,000 of the £5m cost through its award-winning Rural Broadband Infrastructure Programme. Other funding support came from the The Scottish Government, Scottish National Investment Bank and Building Digital UK.

"We are delighted with our Lothian Broadband install - after a long time of not being able to have WiFi throughout our old building for our customers to use - we now have superfast broadband throughout.

Our install was not easy for the team - but, after a bit of problem solving the install was completed - and the superfast broadband connected instantly. This type of system in our Community Centre means we have super fast speeds for our own electronic systems, our IT club can assist people using their own devices and our customers can keep working while they enjoy a seat, a heat and a cuppa."

So you’ve booked your installation and are looking forward to experiencing the full power of full fibre. So what actually happens on the day of installation?

Once our team have formed the foundations of the fibre network for your community, our friendly engineers will then arrive to your property at an agreed time and will carefully look around and decide on the best way for the installation to take place. Typically, we do this via a cable which is buried underground but don’t worry, we’ll put it back to how we found it. From there, we drill a very small hole and bring the fibre cable to your home.

On the inside of the building, we install a connection box which ensures the signal is easily picked up by your devices. Next your router is plugged into the connection box. Now, it’s time for the great switch on! After our engineers have checked to ensure it’s all running smoothly, you are new free to enjoy the benefits of ultrafast broadband!
