Creative Engagement Assistant We are looking for a Creative Engagement Assistant to support our team as we connect with audiences and young people through activities inspired by the performances on our stages, the heritage of our buildings and the redevelopment of the King’s Theatre.

✨INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY✨

We wanted to take a minute to celebrate our wonderful youth company! 💙🩵

Now heading into its 4th semester, the youth company was created to provide a safe, supportive and fun environment for young people to develop dance, performance and choreography skills! Many of the young dancers who have joined the company have since gone on to full time training here at PASS!

A member of our youth company says “this class has changed my life! It has given me so much self confidence and I feel so proud of myself for getting up on stage! I now love performing!!”

Congratulations to BA dance and drama graduate Georgia Green on being selected for 2024/25 Dancers Emerging Bursary Scheme with Dance Base 🤩✨

Introducing our 2024/25 Dancers Emerging Bursary Scheme Members! 🌟

Tsoi Huen Wong, Taine McKinstray, Jo Lindsay & Georgia Green will join mentor Rob Heaslip from September to June. The DEBS programme supports emerging artists to develop their dance careers by encouraging creativity and ambition.

✨PASS DANCE ACADEMY✨

Yesterday we welcomed over 100 dancers into the building to celebrate their achievements in the PASS Dance Academy! They took part in workshops, performed in the theatre and then received their graduation certificates✨

Well done to all the fantastic young dancers from Leith Academy, Wallace High School, Queensferry High School, JHM, Zodiac School of Dance, Gracemount High School, James Gillespie’s, Newbattle High School and KIC for a wonderful year! 🌟

SPRINGBOARD ‘24!

An exciting opportunity for emerging artists and recent graduates to have their work performed as part of Edinburgh Fringe 2024! ✨

Applications now open for dance and physical theatre works between 10-20 minutes in length. The Springboard programme will be curated by a panel of artists currently working in the dance sector and will be produced by PASS Dance for 2024 ✨

Rehearsals are underway and it’s been a busy week in the studio so far for our first and second year dancers!

Our students have been working with the wonderful Ashley Jack () to create a new piece of work for Cross Currents.

We are thrilled to have Ashley back in the studio with us and we can’t wait to show you what they have been working on! ✨

It’s the start of Cross Currents rehearsals and this week we have the sensational Ashley Jack in the studio working with some of our first and second year dancers! ✨

Ashley is working with our students to create a new piece of work which will be performed as part of Cross Currents 2024. Full details of where to buy tickets and when you can catch the performances will be released soon.

Massive congratulations to our BA dancers who completed their 21st Century Choreography module this week with 2 shows

They have all worked extremely hard over the past few months; creating, exploring and bringing to life their ideas each devising a 20 minute piece of work which were performed to packed out audiences!

Dance Base is recruiting for permanent (part time) and casual Front of House positions at Dance Base currently. These roles provide the welcome that Dance Base is famous for (rated 4.9* on Google!).

To provide this welcome for everyone, our Front of House team should reflect the diversity of Scotland today. In particular Dance Base has made a commitment to providing more opportunities for Black people and people of colour, older people, young people under 26 and disabled people. As part of our efforts the whole team is reaching out to people like yourself, who would be able to spread the word about these opportunities to relevant people that you know.

Candidates don’t need to have experience of working in an arts venue, or any background in dance. We’re looking for people who have delivered great customer service in any environment – it’s a very transferable skill.

We have a wonderful opportunity upcoming this April – our Training Workshop with internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer Marc Brew!

This workshop is for dance teachers keen to develop their practice, and explores teaching approaches to leading dance in an inclusive and supportive environment.

Marc has been working in the UK and internationally for over 24 years as a director, choreographer, dancer, teacher and speaker.

Having founded Marc Brew Company in 2008, he has collaborated with likes of Australian Ballet, State Theatre Ballet Company of South Africa, Infinity Dance Theatre, CandoCo Dance Company, Touch Compass, San Francisco Ballet, Eisenhower Dance Detroit and Scottish Dance Theatre. Marc is currently Associate Artistic Director at Ballet Cymru.

PASS YOUTH DANCE COMPANY

After they smashed their performance at our Christmas show First Footing, We are excited to announce that our youth company is back and you can join us!🤩

Open to all young dancers aged 14-21!

The company will meet every Monday night to work on their dance technique in a fun and supportive environment. They will also be working with an established choreographer to create new pieces of work to be performed at our shows! ✨

This winter, we were delighted to support the Performing Arts Studio Scotland (PASS) at Edinburgh College to work with two independent choreographers (Kayla Collymore and Jack Webb) to create new works with their BA Dance and Drama students. These works were performed at the Traverse Theatre!

✨STUDENT DANCE FESTIVAL✨

What a fantastic day we had yesterday hosting the Student Dance Festival! We welcomed lots of wonderful dancers from across Scotland to take part in workshops and perform in a showcase at the end of the day 🤩

Massive well done to all the dancers from , , , and our own dancers from PASS!

Biggest of thanks to our guest teachers Alan Greig (), ’s Kevin Turner, Hannah Mason () and Roz Hoyte () for leading fantastic workshops! ✨

Thank you to the team for supporting and operating the show and finally a big thank you to who organised the whole day ✨

Hopefully this will be the first of many Student Dance Festivals to happen over the years 🤩

We have an exciting weekend lined up, as we welcome colleges and youth companies from across Scotland into our studios for workshops and performances! ✨
