A little Job in between jobs completed recently. Damp from a disused chimney and some skimming. It's been a while since I've done skimming not using lime based gear, can't say I've missed it much! Another Happy customer and a job knocked off the list.

A small rising damp job completed last week. Nice easy one for a change.
Nothing major going on just high readings at low level and some salt damage. All chipped off and treated then finished with Lime based products. Please get in touch with your preservation work needs.

A small job completed recently in Seascale. Salt contaminated plaster can be a right pain in the a # # # to have in your property, it looks unsightly and can make quite a mess too, nothing will get rid of it so don't waste your time trying, the plaster needs removing and the wall treated. Here we have removed the plaster then treated the wall to kill off the salts. Then re plastered using lime based products which allow any remaining salts to pass through without causing damage. We then fitted passive air vents to help with the condensation and keep those humidity levels in check. Another Happy customer.

Another cavity wall insulation victim sorted recently, luckily the home owner stopped the company part way through so they got off lightly. Forgot to get a photo before removing the plaster but it was wet! All sorted now by the main man!

Still thinking of getting cavity wall insulation? 4 weeks ago I seen a company pumping rubbish into a house just over the road from this one, this week another company were extracting insulation from a house just over the road from that one! This madness has to stop, it's crazy. Look at the damage that's being done, and when you go to get help from these big companies they've all gone bust leaving the poor home owners to foot the bill.

Condensation control job knocked off the ever growing list today. Ceiling mounted PIV unit fitted along with passive air vents and a humidistat fan in the kitchen. This will make a massive difference to this property which was suffering from high condensation which ultimately leads to black mould. These units are unreal when fitted correctly with vents, makes such a difference. All done just in time for condensation season 🥶

Condensation control job finished today. This rental property had no air flow going through it all all, and the humidity was sky high at 85% .
4 passive air vents fitted, a ceiling mounted PIV unit, 2 humidistat fans and the re circulation cooker hood ducted outside. What a difference now, the PIV was only running around 3 hours before I left and the difference in air quality was amazing. Love these jobs, the results are unreal. It's amazing the damage thats caused too by poor air flow.

Small condensation job completed this week. 4 passive air vents fitted, humidistat fan in the bathroom, loft mounted PIV unit, cupboard vents and some contaminated plaster sorted. This property felt like a different house when I was done.

Small job completed last week, nothing big or clever but definitely needed. I forgot to get a before photo but there was plenty of damp patches and salts. The wall had been rendered in sand & cement render then coated with bonding, my arch nemesis, which just acts as a sponge at the slightest bit of high humidity. All chipped off and treated with Anti sulphate then re plastered using Limelite products, with a passive air vent fitted to help with the air flow. Another good job done and dusted.

Been to look at a job this morning and wow 100% humidity, the highest I've ever seen so just had to get a photo as I was quite excited (it's the simple things in life ). This just shows the importance of proper ventilation in the home. Hopefully I'll return and install some vents and a PIV unit to help get the house back on track. You can't cure condensation but you can definitely manage it.

Another one done and dusted. Penetrating & rising damp caused by cavity wall insulation. All chipped off and treated and the cavity cleaned, the insulation was absolutely soaking wet!
All re plastered now and dry. Another good job and another happy customer.

Back to the spray foam insulation nightmare today. Spraying the timbers to kill off the Dry rot spores ready for the roof being replaced. Once it's all stripped off I will return to inspect the timbers again and give it all another spray for good measure. All this because of companies mis selling products to people.

Back to this job today now it's dried out to fit skirting and dado and it reminded me why I don't do joinery anymore, after over 20 years of doing it I hate it with a passion 😂, definitely sticking to preservation work.
Looks good though and the client is over the moon.

Condensation job completed. Need to pop back next week and change the 2 brown vents for white. Passive vents fitted along with a PIV unit, and some paint additives supplied to reduce mould. Should make a big difference in this property.

Just a polite word of warning. Ive seen again lately all the advertisements for grants etc for foam insulation to your roofs. Not only does having this done make your property unmortgageable, it also prevents air flow into your roof space which in turn, like this property in Egremont, can cause Dry Rot. Luckily the home owner noticed before things got out of hand, although the complete roof and some roof timbers will need replaced.
Please do not get this done, how it's still allowed is beyond me! Just because it's free or partly funded doesn't mean it's good for your home.
That's my good deed for the day. ☺️

Sorry I've been quiet lately, it's our busiest time of year and have been flat out! Here's one of our small jobs completed today. The wall was saturated caused by a cavity full of rubble. All treated now & re plastered and another happy customer.

This damage was caused by something as simple as a leaking gutter which caused water to pe*****te through the wall and cavity wall insulation causing all the damage inside.
The wall was chipped off and insulation removed, then re plastered using lime based products. All left clean and tidy, ready for decorating.

Sorry I've not posted in a while, it's been crazy busy this year so far so thanks to everyone.
We've been fitting lots of these PIV units lately which are absolutely fantastic to help control mould and condensation, as well as filling your home with clean air. On one job recently the humidity was around 75% with black mould growing. Just 3 hours after fitting, the humidity had dropped to 52%. Well worth the money these units when fitted correctly with passive vapour vents.

A small timber treatment job completed recently in St Bees Village Hall.
Quite a bad woodworm infestation under the stage area.
We removed the stage and cleaned everything down before giving it all a good soaking with our treatment. The stage was then refitted and you'd never know we'd been. All good for the next 30 years.
