When shooting landscapes on film, I love the challenges and rewards of shooting on location. There's nothing like the thrill of waking up in the dark and setting up your camera for the perfect sunrise shot, knowing that you only have one chance to get it right. And when you finally develop the film and see the results of your hard work, it's incredibly satisfying.

Of course, shooting film on location comes with its own set of challenges. Weather is always a factor, and you have to be prepared for everything from rain to harsh sunlight. And if you're carrying a heavy camera body like my Mamiya RB67 Pro SD, you have to be in decent shape and willing to make the trek up into the hills to get the shot you want.

But for me, the effort is worth it. The Mamiya RB67 Pro SD is a precision instrument that produces stunning images on medium format film. When you master the camera and the light meter, the results are truly breathtaking. And I love the tactile nature of shooting with film, from the feel of the camera in my hands to the sound of the shutter clicking.

If you're thinking of trying film photography for outdoor or landscape photography, I highly recommend Kodak Ektar 100. It's a versatile film that produces rich, saturated colours and sharp detail. And if you're up for the challenge of shooting with a medium-format camera, the rewards are worth it.

In conclusion, film photography on location is not for the faint of heart, but it's an incredibly rewarding experience for those who are willing to put in the effort. With a camera like the Mamiya RB67 Pro SD and the right film, you can create images that are truly works of art. So get out there, explore, and see what you can create with film.

My Photographic Journey

Hi! Let me tell you a little about myself. My name is Timothy McGaw and I’ve had a lifelong passion for taking photographs. I dread to imagine how many rolls of 35mm film I burned through as a child, running around with the family point and shoot, photographing absolutely everything. One thing I do know is that most of those rolls of film contained images that left a lot to be desired. In short; blurry photos of Lego models turned out not to stir the soul as much as I’d hoped!

However, I stuck with photography as a hobby through my school years, and the results steadily improved. Saving my pennies from weekend jobs, I acquired my first digital camera, and took it with me on several hiking trips. It was here that I discovered a passion for photographing landscapes; a hobby that I would continue to develop for many years to come.

In addition to the landscape shooting, I was given the chance to photograph weddings for a couple of former school friends. In spite of initial nerves, I found these opportunities to be highly rewarding. I found I was more than capable of taking portraits that I was proud of at these large events.

I now offer my services commercially. Whether it’s a wedding, a private photo shoot, or any other occasion; I pride myself on my ability to deliver unique and special images that my clients will treasure for life.
