Ollie Morton on TikTok Veteran oak deadwooding to keep public footpath safe.
Not something we see very often. Recently we worked on this Lawsons Cyprus removing the areas of dead initially thought to be potential root damage.
We quickly realised this tree had all the signs of Cyprus canker and could clearly see where an old wound had given an entry point for the fungal spores and from there had spread to other areas of the canopy.
Although we removed all the infected areas it is likely we will be back to further remove more or potentially all the remaining tree but at this stage we are going to monitor it and remain optimistic.
Not your average callout!!! πππ
We recently carried out work on a local estate following a regular tree surgery.
This beech tree had been identified with krez and due to its location next to a popular footpath was down for potential removal.
We decided reducing the tree to a monolith using coronet cuts ( cuts that simulate natural limb failure ) to create potential habitat for insects, birds and small mammals.
This tree was a great example of how we can leave valuable habitat whiles maintaining public safety.
This large Norway spruce was blown into neighbouring trees causing a potentially dangerous situation after storm Arwen.
This was a challenging removal as directly underneath were many smaller trees as well as a stone wall that we wanted to avoid causing any damage to.
With the use of heavy rigging and the Hobbs winch bollard we were able to lower the whole tree safely to the ground and cause no further damage.
As were are due for more high winds over the next few days. Please get in touch for any emergency work across east anglia.
Itβs been a busy start to 2022. We have had the pleasure of Assisting MFA Forestry and Arb and Catshead forestry with a variety woodland management projects.
The main task was to remove some of the willow and alder in a small dense area of woodland to encourage the healthy growth of the mature trees that were being left.
The area is heavily used by the public so tree health is very important for safety.
In this situation being able to inspect trees closely is vital and dense areas of vegetation can restrict this.
That the last job for 2021 finished!! Really pleased with how this laurel hedge turned out and a nice way to finish of the year. ππππ
After a recent Tree survey found this purple beech to have root and trunk rot (Krezschmaria deusta). Due to the trees location the decision was made to remove the tree before and damage or injury could be caused and Allow for replanting of a suitable replacement.
The location of the tree meant that every limb had to be carefully removed and lowered to the ground to avoid damaging the many trees, building, fences and drainage systems directly underneath the canopy. This is especially challenging as trees suffering from krezaschmaria become very brittle and can break apart very easily.
Replacing this magnificent beech with another is not advisable as a new beech tree could
Suffer the same fate from existing spores. It likely a London plane ( Platanus x hispanica) will be planted and an additional purple beech (Fagus sylvatica purpurea) planted in another location.

One of this weeks jobs was to remove a line of plum trees that were totally swamped with ivy and in poor health. The Access was tight and felling the trees would cause damage to the surrounding properties and gardens. We brought the tree shear out to play and removed them one limb at a time never needing to touch the ground.
Some fantastic teamwork by Sam and Lewis removing this sycamore that was overhanging this lodge. All rigged down to prevent any damage to the property below.
All our hats are fitted with Bluetooth communication making jobs like this run smoothly and safely.
We cut this leylandii hedge twice a year but this itβs the first time using the battery powered hedge cutters, fantastic to use and much nicer for the customer.
We have been trimming this line of young Ligustrum trees for a couple of years to help promote full and even growth to form a higher natural screen between the two properties.
This Willow tree root system was damaged due to excess water from a neighbouring fire, the decision was made to leave the structural timber of the tree as a climbing frame for wisteria, honey suckle and clematis, in Lidgate.
Sadly this Oak tree has reached the end of its life - big job to clear up - more photos to follow in due course ...
