Fancy a bath? Our water buffaloes love a good soak to keep cool. The Konik ponies aren’t so bothered though!

Mud baths are just for our wildlife, sadly not for visitors, but we can offer lots of delicious refreshments at The Wren Cafe & Gift Shop this weekend.

Di come along and make most of the late summer sun!

Big thanks to Assistant Warden Katey for the 🎦

😍 Assistant warden Katey spotted this gorgeous grass snake enjoying a swim on the Reserve yesterday 🐍

I’m stuck in a hot office today and very jealous of both of them!

If you’re wondering where our water buffaloes are right now, then look no further!

In the late summer and autumn, their job is to eat up this year’s oldest of our five reed beds, to renew the root stock. They also make lots of lovely mud for our birds to nest in next spring, and for our rare fen flowers to thrive in.

You might be able to spot the herd from the top of the mound, but on especially hot days they like to lurk in the murk 👀

📷 Big thanks to volunteer Simon for this fab photo!

You may be able to spot our water buffalo keeping cool in the lake too!
