With kids back to school this week, here's our top five tips for keeping kids healthy at school.
1️⃣ Remember hand hygiene - Continue to encourage children to wash their hands after using the toilet and before eating.
2️⃣ Check prescription medicines - Check any prescription medications that they have at school are up to date, and order more if needed.
3️⃣ Keep up to date with childhood vaccinations - Make sure your child is up to date on any childhood vaccinations. If you’re not sure if they’ve had all their vaccines, contact your GP practice to check. Be sure to sign the consent form for your child to have their flu vaccine when you’re sent it by your child’s school.
4️⃣ Help stop the spread - Keep children off school if they have a contagious illness such as vomiting and diarrhoea and chickenpox.
5️⃣Stock up your medicine cabinet – Please stock up your medicines cabinet so you can treat common conditions such as colds, coughs and tummy bugs at home, saving you time and helping your children feel better quicker.

Cambridgeshire is a hub of medical innovation, home to world-class hospitals, research institutes, laboratories, academia, and clinical teams. Our region has a rich history of ground-breaking discoveries, from Watson and Crick's DNA to the first successful UK lung and heart transplants.
The campaign is a joint initiative by Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH), Royal Papworth Hospital (RPH), and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) aiming to connect more people with vital NHS research, continuing our tradition of excellence.
Participating in NHS research helps discover new treatments and brings us closer to breakthroughs that can save lives.
Studies show that patients treated in research-active hospitals often have better outcomes.

Cases of whooping cough have risen sharply this year with newborn babies most as risk. If you are pregnant, it’s important to get your whooping cough vaccine. You can get the vaccine from 16 weeks up to 32 weeks pregnant. If you miss having the vaccine, you can still have it up until you go into labour. Speak to your GP practice or midwife.
