Angela Wratten Counselling
I offer online video and telephone counselling across the UK.
Are you procrastinating on an important decision? Your friends and family may have already given you their opinions but have you given yourself the space and time to consider the full range of scenarios, options and/or risks ahead? The pros and cons? What is it that 'you' really want or need to do? How much weight are you giving to the consideration of the needs or wants of others? What are the potential consequences of your decision?
Hi, I'm Angela - an online video counsellor. If you would like to talk through a big, or a small, decision then I would be happy to listen. I will give you the support and space to explore what it is that ‘you’ really want, what is causing you to hesitate to find a way forward so that you can move forwards. Contact me if you are interested in arranging online video counselling with me.
“What’s special about 24 July?” Written another way it’s 24/7.
The Samaritans use this date to remind everyone that they are available to listen to anyone who is struggling – day or night, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
If you ever need to contact the Samaritans then remember you can call for free anytime from any phone on 116 123, even a mobile without credit, or you can email [email protected].
We all know how important it is to take care of ourselves. But sometimes, it's hard to find the time or energy to do so.
Not only will ‘me time’ help you relax and de-stress, but it also allows us to regenerate so that we can continue caring in the best way for ourselves and our loved ones.
Self-care is not selfish. It is necessary.
Hi. I'm Angela, an online video counsellor. I thought I'd share some info about what to expect with online video counselling in case someone finds it helpful 😊.
Online video counselling with me can give you the opportunity to access counselling support at a time and in a place, which is convenient to you and with someone that wants to understand your situation and connect with your needs.
Whether you are a tech wizard or technophobe, once you have started online video counselling, I'm confident that you will appreciate the convenience and comfort of being in my " online counselling room" and forget any technological concerns.
As long as you have access to WiFi or mobile data, you can join your session from anywhere. It is important that you choose somewhere that you feel safe, have privacy and won't be overheard. I've worked with clients who have connected with me from their car, from their lounge, from a meeting room at work and even from their beach hut! As long as you are based in the UK then we can work together.
As long as your device - laptop, tablet or mobile phone - is charged and has a camera and audio then all you will need to do is to click on the link and follow the instructions that are provided in your booking confirmation email. It's simple.
Some clients prefer to wear headphones while others don't; as long as we can see and hear each other clearly then it's really down to personal preference.
If you've read this far then I hope you have found it helpful but if you have any other questions about what to expect or would like to arrange a free consultation call to arrange counselling then feel free to message me on WhatsApp on 07841 954337 or email [email protected].
Hi, I'm Angela, an online video counsellor offering counselling across the UK. I have availability for new clients during some mornings and afternoons on Mondays and Tuesdays.
I work with a mix of clients who have a set weekly day/time and also those who prefer the flexibility of booking each session as we go. This option requires flexibility with both parties but can really suit parents juggling home life or people with shift work or other responsibilities etc.
If you are thinking of looking for a counsellor, or know someone who has mentioned they are considering counselling then have a look/ follow my FB page and my profile directory https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/counsellors/angela-wratten. "Everyone feels happier in the Summer". "Who needs counselling when the sun is shining and all is good in the world". "You can't possibly be depressed, bored or lonely as there is so much to do in the summer". I hear these sorts of responses all of the time ... but this really isn't the reality for some.
Just because the weather is warmer or because you may have a holiday planned or the generalised expectations are that everything is more fun in the summer, it doesn't mean that you can't acknowledge that you are actually finding things difficult.
So shall we try and debunk some myths..
◇ People can have depression in the summer. Some people with depression struggle with the lack of structure and routine that the summer holidays can bring and can be very problematic. For example, not having work or taking the children to school can lead to some not going out or being late to work or perhaps not looking after themselves properly, binge eating, impulse spending. When your carefully planned routine is disrupted it can exacerbate or derail your mental health and how you manage your depression.
◇ People can be lonely and/ or sad in the summer. For many, it can be a time that they end up being on their own more than they would like, as their family, friends and their support network are busier doing things like going away on holiday or working more often.
◇ People can find the heat of summer very uncomfortable and some struggle with the idea of "not having a summer body". This can lead to some feeling awkward, or worse, about their bodies and the clothes they wear, especially if they have body conscious issues, such as age, weight, scars from self harm or other reasons that they choose to cover.
Even with the colourful flowers, the sunshine, the pretty beach locations, the city breaks and smiling through the obligatory garden party, having a holiday away, do you still have this gut feeling of "feeling low or underwhelmed or that you are struggling"?
No-one deserves to feel like this and having some online counselling with me could offer you the space and support to talk through and deal with whatever is bothering you. I'm aware that taking the first step to get counselling can be hard but I'm happy to help you through and answer any questions you may have. If you are interested then contact me to arrange a free 20 minute consultation session.
How do you feel when someone let's you down? Being let down by someone can invoke feelings of "disappointment", "not feeling important enough" or "frustration and anger". I try to think about the other person, their circumstances and that they must have a good reason (after all, I am a counsellor!) .... but sometimes it just doesn't feel fair!
Has this happened to you before in your life? Why not talk through those feelings with me?
If you are feeling let down by someone and would like to talk it through in counselling then feel free to email me or message me to arrange some online video counselling.
Hi, are you frustrated living with illness or constant pain? Is it affecting your everyday life? Do you feel it is controlling you?
If you are feeling annoyed, angry, tired or if the pain is affecting your self esteem or confidence then I'd be happy to listen. It can be difficult feeling like you are burdening a family member or friend but as a counsellor, I can offer you a listening ear.
Together we can talk through any difficulties or feelings of sadness, injustice or frustration that you may be feeling. I cannot cure illness or pain (wish I could!) but counselling may provide the opportunity to help support you to come to terms with and help you learn to live 'with' your illness or pain freeing you to move forward with your life.
If interested in working with me, message me to book your free 20 minute consultation session.
I'm grateful to be working as an online counsellor with adults and appreciate that my clients choose to work with me from all across the UK. If you would like to arrange online video counselling with me then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Online counselling can be helpful to those who are being troubled, anxious or are struggling with something or someone that is affecting their happiness. I'm passionate about people 'feeling better' about themselves, their relationships and their day to day lives.
Please also feel free to follow and share my FB page so more people can see my updates as maybe a friend or relative might see and benefit from some counselling too 😊

Every year, 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem. But too many aren’t getting the help needed.
Over 2 million people are waiting for NHS mental health services, and since 2017 the number of young people struggling with their mental health has nearly doubled.

This beauty was one of the thoughtful Xmas presents that I was lucky enough to receive ... Yes, it's a spoon holder ... And yes, it meant a lot!
Earlier last year, I flippantly mumbled to someone that my old spoon holder was chipped and cracked when I was making a cuppa. A kind & thoughtful person heard me say this. They held that nonchalant comment in their little grey cells for months & when they were organising my Xmas presents they bought me a new one.
So this photo ... and my daily use of the spoon holder ... will be a lovely gentle reminder to continue and pass onwards being kind and thoughtful to others ... as even the small gestures can mean so much.
If I can offer anyone some help in organising online video counselling with me then feel free to get in touch. I have some availability on Tuesday daytimes but if you're interested in a different week day then just ask and will happily see if we can make it work.
I work via online video with adults and young people as it can make it even more accessible and convenient for many clients. If you have any questions or would like to discuss whether you think counselling may help yourself then get in touch with absolutely no obligation or pressure.
Right, I'm off to make a cuppa and make good use of my new spoon holder again, hehehe! 😀
Hi, The majority of my counselling work involves discussion around relationships of some sort or other. Be that past relationships that have affected our lives, current relationships or future relationships that we hope for. The relationships between family, friends, partners, lovers, children, siblings, parents, pets, work colleagues, teachers, lecturers, acquaintances, neighbours, communities, school friends, uni buddies, teammates... many more, too many to mention... the one thing they all have in common is that they all have an impact on how we feel about ourselves. Are your relationships healthy?
If you would like to book online counselling sessions or are considering counselling, or know someone who is, and have any questions then please message me.
Take care, Angela
What does your 'To Do' List look like? Is it ridiculously long? Do you avoid looking at it? How comfortable do you feel when you have to ditch your To Do list plans for the day when something else happens? Or do you not have a To Do list?
Personally before I used a To Do-List, I often struggled to fall asleep while my mind constantly worried, tried to remember all the things I needed to do during the week and my brain would then move into overthinking and over analysing mode. By the next morning, I was tired and even more overwhelmed about what my priorities actually were and this resulted in me either doing the easier lower priority things or put off and procrastinate even more about what I needed to do causing more stress and anxiety.
So, I bought a simple To Do notebook. Brilliant.... and it worked for quite a while as I liked that I could write everything down so I could fall asleep easier, knowing that there was less danger of me forgetting an important task and I could 'park' them ready for the next day rather than overthink overnight.
However, my To Do list became overwhelmingly long and I actually began feeling unmotivated and avoided looking at it. Backward step.... until, I decided to have 2 lists.
I now have 2 lists ...
◇ a fully comprehensive 'Memory List' that includes everything and anything that I would like to get done ... some tasks have deadlines and some are "at some point"... but they are all in my little notebook rather than clogging up my brain.
◇ a daily To Do list that is realistic and achievable ... so I get the balance of feeling motivated to get them done but not overwhelmed by the other stuff.
It's not perfect - but for now this seems to be working better for me. And the best bit...
☆ I now get to actually cross stuff off my To Do list (and Memory List). Yay. V satisfying. I feel more efficient and accomplished.
☆ If I can't get everything crossed off for that day then, hey ho life happens, it moves over to the next day and I can learn to be more realistic about what I can get done in one day. Better that than feeling like I'm failing at everything.
☆ I can add some sort of reward or self care element to my To Do list to celebrate.. and without feeling guilty that I still have stuff left to do on my Memory List. Yay!
There is various research and numerous articles stating the pros and cons of writing 'To Do' lists. Everyone is different so different things work for different people in all different circumstances.
However, the consequences of the bad sleep, guilt, shame, anxiety and feelings of being overwhelmed by juggling too much or avoiding doing things can all result in holding many of us back from moving forwards. If you are feeling held back, like things are just too much, you are avoiding taking action or any of these other similar issues and would like to explore online counselling with me then feel free to contact me.
I'm not a PA so I won't be able to organise your To Do List for you (as much as I would like to!) but I can provide my help and support by talking through with you what you would like to do, what might be holding you back and how you might possibly move past any blockers to find your way forwards through to actually "getting some stuff done".
♡ It can be liberating and rejuvenating to feel the pride, accomplishment and achievement of getting the big and small stuff done. ♡
For a free, no obligation 20mins consultation to discuss online video counselling then please contact me.
