This is a great initiative from Pets at Home, bunnies are of course everywhere this time of year.. So pausing the sale of cute little rabbits will help stop impulsive purchasing over the Easter period. Rabbits are not the easy pet you can pop in a hutch like was once thought, they have complexed needs and ‘a hutch is not enough’!

If you want a bunny to join your family, read lots and see if it would fit with your life.

In this article it unfortunately advises, ‘In 2022, a whopping 48% of rabbits were abandoned, with 1,090 bunnies arriving at animal centres and 1,942 rescued by RSPCA branches.’

Maybe stick to the choc bunnies this weekend!!

Any excuse to perk up a rainy Wednesday with some discounted chocolate!! But you know what we’re going to say!!

Chocolate is a big no no for your pets.. so keep it out of reach from your pooches, we once had a dog come in that had eaten a box of chocolates that came through the letterbox.. oops!

White and milk chocolate isn’t as worrying as dark chocolate, due to the active ingredient theobromine which dogs can’t metabolise. If you think your dog has eaten some, you can also use the dog chocolate calculator;

And if you’re lucky enough to be given some beautiful flowers, make sure to keep them away from your cats reach too… Lilies petals, leaves, and pollen could all be fatal to your cat. Even drinking the water from the vase can cause acute kidney damage.

Be on the safe side and decorate for Valentines with classic roses which are non toxic to our furry family! 🌹

Even a small amount that is licked by a pet can cause serious kidney damage and is often fatal.

What to look out for;

- Vomiting
- Seeming depressed/sleepy
- Appearing drunk and uncoordinated
- Seizures (fits)
- Difficulty breathing

Call us immediately if you think your pet has ingested antifreeze.

New Years Eve is upon us! As we wave goodbye to 2023, take some time to make sure you’re prepared for fireworks.

If you’re having a party, make sure your pets microchip details are up to date or they have a collar on… just in case you get an escapee amongst the fun!

The RWAF advised to bring rabbits inside if you can into an unheated room, if that’s not possible cover enclosures with blankets/ duvets. Do not constantly bother or fuss scared rabbits.

Think about creating a den for dogs and cats, somewhere they feel safe to retreat to if they are scared.

Playing classical music has also been proven to help! Get on Classic FM whilst you pop the bubbly! 🥂
