A date for your diary for September!
A really interesting play on at Riverhouse in September:
The Mistake
📷One of the successes at last year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and following a sell-out run at London’s trailblazing Arcola Theatre, this urgent new play by Michael Mears explores the events surrounding the catastrophic ‘mistake’ that launched our nuclear age.
1942. On a squash court in Chicago a dazzling scientific experiment takes place, which three years later will destroy a city and change the world - forever.
Two actors, one British, one Japanese, enact the compelling stories of a brilliant Hungarian scientist, a daring American pilot and a devoted Japanese daughter, in a fast-moving, thought-provoking drama about the dangers that arise when humans dare to unlock the awesome power of nature.

Two new crochet courses starting soon at the Meeting House!
Spot the difference! Just found an old photo of the Meeting House from 1993; the building looking pretty much the same, but the garden transformed. Through years of bulb-planting, our graveyard has been transformed into a vibrant spring garden, while we are also lucky to now have many more beautiful shrubs throughout the rest of the year. A peaceful haven away from the traffic on Claremont Lane.
We are very happy to announce a new crochet class which has recently started at the Meeting House. We offer very reasonably priced rooms for groups and clubs; do get in touch if you would like to find out more!
An interesting talk at the Climate Cafe next week.
Are you worried about the state of our rivers and beaches? Come to a talk about the River Mole on Wed 8th February.
As part of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, members of Thames Ditton Churches Together joined us for our midweek Meeting for Worship, and we were happy to offer them a bread and soup lunch afterwards.

Anyone from Esher Quaker Meeting House recognise these friendly faces and BRAND NEW toilet twins?
Receiving emails and DM's from people with photos of their twins is one of our favourite things!
Inspired by these brilliant ladies... you can twin your toilets today! OR get in on the World Toilet Day fun and start fundraising to twin your toilet by the 19th of November.

Thanks again Mona and friends!
We believe equality is important.
As part of Heritage Open Day we put up a new poster display about Quakerism. (With thanks to Kingston Meeting for letting us use their beautifully designed exhibition!)
A few weeks ago we took part in Heritage Open Day and really enjoyed welcoming visitors to look round our historic Meeting House.
We now have lovely new cushions for the benches in the Meeting Room. Recently we read that in 1675 John Beckett of Esher was given money by the Monthly Meeting to buy benches and forms to put in his house for use for Quaker Meeting. Our Meeting House wasn't built until 1797 but now we're wondering whether our benches are these original benches, and actually predate the Meeting House?
Coming up soon.....
Lovely music room available for use as a practice space, rehearsal room, or teaching space.
Esher Quakers getting their banner ready for Cop 26.
The Meeting House in 1880 with a bit of an ivy problem.... and today. If you look carefully, you can see the ivy in the bottom left hand corner; forever trying to grow back!
