Welcome to the 5th Exeter Boys' Brigade page!
We had a very busy weekend at Broadleas and it was great to have all sections join us at some point over the couple days.
Our Company and Senior boys enjoyed the peace Friday and Saturday morning with walks up Haytor and to the quarry for various games before being joined by our Junior section. Everyone then enjoyed exploring the site and took part in a water transport team game before having an evening walk up the tor followed by our signature bonfire with marshmallows!
On Sunday some of our Anchor section joined us for the day and took part in games including duck racing, apple slingshots and craft as the rain came in.
We hope everyone had a brilliant time and huge thanks to the Officers for making it a great weekend for the Boysβ.

Camp 2024 β
We hope everyone had a fantastic camp and enjoy the rest of the summer holidays. Our Officers are now having a well deserved rest but we look forward to starting the new session in September. More details will follow in the coming weeks.
Where has the time gone? Weβre already half way through Camp and weβve crammed so much in!
Keep up to date with The Boys' Brigade - Devon Battalion to see all the activities weβve been up to!
Weβve had a busy few weeks as our final session of the year was held with a traditional BBQ for all our members and their families/careers.
π This year we brought back some end of year awards to recognise the boyβs incredible work, dedication and attitude throughout the year. Congratulations to Ethan, Charlie and Lawrence for Boy of the Year in Anchors, Juniors & Company Section respectively.
π Also congratulations to Toby, Matthew and Reuben for winning inspection in the same order.
ποΈOur Thursday sessions arenβt back now until after the summer break but we look forward to enjoying Battalion Camp with 1st Exeter Boys' Brigade in sunny Cornwall.
Last week, The boys in the company section were challenged with constructing the tallest tower possible using only marshmallows and Spaghetti. Even the Officers got involved in building their own towers and clearing up leftover marshmallows.
It is with deep sadness to share the passing of Lesley Albrow. Lesley, with Julian had been an Officer at the 5th Exeter Boysβ Brigade for the past 10 years and an Officer for over 40 years.
Lesleyβs funeral will be this coming Friday, 19th January, at St Thomas Methodist Church, Exeter, EX4 1JE at 14:00.

Tonight was our annual firework display! Thankyou everyone that came and joined us, we hope you all enjoyed the show, sparklers and hotdogs! ππ
We're very proud of all those who received their Queen's & President's awards on Sunday.
Very proud of one of our young officers (on loan from 5th Exeter). He was presented with his Presidents certificate when he went back to his home company last weekend. It was a lovely surprise for his family. Well done Jake.
On Saturday some of our Anchors & Juniors joined us at Broadleas for the day. They got stuck in with various activities including craft, making a den and building a fire to cook bread on.
This weekend the Company has been at Broadleas enjoying time together and doing a range of activities. We'll share more of our ventures over the coming days but here's an insight into what we got up to! πππ₯ππ

Should you have any queries, please message us! We look forward to seeing you.
The weather yesterday was to stormy for our original plans to go ahead in Tenby, we therefore all went to a local bowling alley which was highly enjoyed and brought out everyone's competitive spirit! π³
The results will be announced at the end of camp! π
Camp has been very busy so far! So much so that we've forgotten to keep you all updated! Here is a bulk of photos from our many activities!
Next stop is bowling, stay tuned! π³
Officers from 1st and 5th Exeter have spent the past couple days putting up camp ready for everyone else to arrive today. The weather has been challenging but we're ready to get stuck into a week of activities and fellowship! βΊοΈβΊοΈ
You never know what might happen on a Thursday night! ππ
As our last meet before the Easter break, it was only right to have an Easter egg hunt!
Some of our Officers went to great lengths to hide the eggs throughout the church, including hiding them in music boxes, coffee machine drip trays and high up out of sight!
Of course we finished off with a game of dodgeball!
A couple weeks back our Company section were challenged to make from scratch a 3 course meal using a wide variety of fresh, dried and tin groceries!
The group were split into two teams and following a little guidance from the Officers, the following was served -
π½ Starter - Loaded potato skins
π½ Main - Sausage pasta, with a hint of chilli and warm bread
π½ Dessert - Pancakes, with a range of toppings!
The boys did a wonderful job working together, bouncing ideas around and delivering a well cooked tasty meal!
Last night our Comapny section had a fantastic evening by practising firestarting!
We had various materials available for two types, a modern style or a harder bush craft fire. Of course the night would only be complete if marshmallows were toasted around the firepit! π₯
A special thanks to our young officers for organising the evening from materials to safety, very well planned.
