🚂🚂🚂
Railway are home today vs uni in another cup quarter final.
2pm KO!
🚂🚂🚂
Railway was back in action last night under the lights for their first game in 5 weeks.
Devon intermediate cup vs Starcross Dons.

It was a very hard first 30 minutes for Railway as they struggled to deal with Starcross’ high intensity with balls consistently being put in behind the back 4, Starcross found them selves ahead early on through a mix up at the back.
Railway dug deep to stay in the game and if it wasn’t for Grahams heroics in goal Starcross could have been out of sight.
On the 35 minute mark Railway equalised with a moment of brilliance from Brooksy, he got the ball on the half turn spun and fired a low shot into the bottom corner from 25 yards.
From then on Raikway looked a lot more settled and grew into the game and started putting pressure on the Dons.
Half time 1-1
Into the 2nd half it was Railways turn to start brightly with the pressure piling on and just maybe that final pass going a miss.
Railway soon took the lead on the hour mark Gaynor using his power to get past 3 players before sliding Baldy in to fire a great finish into the bottom corner.
Not much action between then and the end of the game with both teams failing to have the killer pass. Railway dug deep to earn a deserved place in the final at Coach Road on May 11th.
Credit to our opponents who made us work very hard and it’s clear to see two great teams in different ways that should be competing at a higher level.

After the rain putting another break on the season, Railway were back in action welcoming bottom of the league Axmouth to the theatre of cowick who were looking to put up a fight.
The game got underway in very soft conditions although railway had all the ball for the first 15 they couldn’t quite get there passing game going. Railway soon broke the deadlock on 20 mins when a corner came in and a rick o’Shea of Gaynor found wardy who nailed it into the top corner from 12 yards out.
Railway kept possing a threat from corners, the next one taken short Dan Fricker found the skipper Barrett who cut inside on his weaker right foot and rifled into the top corner.
It was soon 3 a free kick swung in from Jamie was fumbled by the keeper and Wardy was there to punish him with a tap in.
Just before half time Railway got a 4th a better passing move found Charlie Telford running who rounded the keeper and made it 4 right on half time.
I must mention an outstanding free kick save from keeper Graham at 2-0 as the Axmouth skipper sent one towards the top corner.
Half time 4-0.
The second half saw changes be made with players getting minutes and debuts being made for George Collier and Will Endicott.
Railway started as they left off, a questionable change of tactics from the visitors saw Telford in behind who made a “sweaty pass” to Jamie who got on the score sheet.
Within minutes it was 6 and Jamie’s 2nd a goal kick from keeper Graham found Jamie through on goal who slotted coolly.
The flood gates was opening, with the game opened right up, Will on his debut got the ball drilled across the box for Baldy to tap home.
8-0 the other debutant George got himself an assist when he found Calum on the half turn who took it in his stride and finished low into the bottome corner.
Calum then nearly found himself scoring the goal of the season tha ball fell to him 40 yards out he hit a rocket first time which cannoned off the cross bar.
Railway wanted to make sure they kept there clean sheet with the back 4 standing firm and Graham making sure it would stay like that.
Plenty of chances for Railway could have seen more goals.
The final goal of the day saw a Baldy free kick meet the head of Wardy for his well deserved perfect Hat trick. 9-0 and back to the top of the league.

With games now coming thick and fast, it was Newton Abbott 66s that visited the theatre of cowick with a cup semi final on the line.
The game was started in good spirit with a couple of early openings for each team but it was Railway who got the break through. A pass into Jamie Sly who played a through ball to Rikki Tucker who fired a ball across goal for the on rushing Charlie Telford to head home. Newton Abbott responded and got a penalty through a hand ball by Jacob Chadwick, but Graham in goal saved.
It was soon two a ball in behind by Rikki Tucker saw Jamie Sly latch onto the ball knocking it past the keeper and the keeper haul Jamie down for a railway penalty. Rikki Tucker stepped up and converted. After this Railway did start to get sloppy and over complicated things with the pitch hard enough to play footy on. The visitors got a goal back through a few Rick o”sheas and it falling to there striker a few yards out.
2-1 half time.
Railway knew if they raised the level a gear or two the game was there for the taking.
That’s exactly what they did starting with Anthony Gaynor grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck winning the ball back high up the pitch and riffling a shot from the edge of the box into the top corner 🚀
Newton Abbott had chances to get a goal or two back but Graham in goal making some great saves to keep Railways two goal lead intact.
In a matter of moment after a Jordan Brook’s shot parried by the keeper, Jamie Sly picked up the ball and was swiped by the defender from behind and it was another penalty. Rikki Tucker stepped up and the keeper save, Jamie Sly reacted the quickest to tap home the rebound.
The game wasn’t done there with Railway on top they managed to get a 5th a defence splitting pass from Brooksy saw Charlie Telford run through and finish easily.
Full time 5-1

🚂🚂🚂
Another Saturday another cup competition for railway as the lads look to get a semi.
2pm theatre of cowick.
🚂🚂🚂
Railway was in action in the cup this weekend in arguably there toughest test this season.
With the game set to be a belter some early bumps in the road caused the fixture to be reversed and played at the theatre of cowick.
The first half was a cagey affair with Railway having more of the ball and more chances and openings, with chances breaking down due to a poor final pass or half chances being made to look a lot harder then they could of been.
It was 0-0 at the break.
Railway knew the break through was coming, and carried on to probe in the second half.
5 mins into the second half railway was awarded a penalty when Liam ward was “clipped”🥴🥴
Rikki tucker stepped up and as always put it away. Soon after it was 1-1 a deep free kick the railway defence fell asleep and a header from close range was put away.
The introduction of Phil White saw railway demand the ball even more and look after it.
Railway got a second after a scramble in the box it was eventually put away by Liam Ward.
2 was soon 3 when a ball in the from Rikki Tucker met the head of Phil White and the floodgates started to open.
The constant pressure and hard work from all the boys got there reward with the team at the top of the division above not having much of an answer. Railway made it 4-1 when a Charlie Telford shot was fumbled by the keeper and Rikki Tucker pounced and finished nicely.
Railway managed to get a 5th when a pass from Aidan Barrett found Jordan Brooks who struck from range and found the net, to top off a great team performance.
Full time 5-1.

Today Railway FC face a stiff test as they face higher league & runaway leaders Starcross Dons in the Football Express Cup 1st round tie, 2pm kick off at Starcross Playing Fields 🚂🚂
Railway were back in action this weekend away at whipton and pinhoe 2nds.
With the small pitch like an ice rink it was always going to be hard to play good flowing football with lads from both sides slipping all over the place.
Whipton made a better start to the first ten than railway but it wasn’t long before railway got a foot hold and took the lead a throw in from Calum saw Jamie flick on and Charlie Telford to finish. Within minutes it was 2-0 a low cross from Gaynor evaded everyone and found Rikki at the back post to fire home.
Railway were soon 3-0 up when a defence splitting pass by Jamie found the Charlie running through to finish as cool as you like.
A moment of lapse in concentration from railway saw Whipton get one back with a good finish from there striker.
Just before half time Railway was awarded a penalty with a clumsy tackle in the box on Liam ward, Rikki stepped up and made it 4-1.
Half time.
Railway had to continue what they was doing, task was due to get tougher with whiptons 1st team 100 goals in 2 seasons striker coming on at half time, but with little impact from the skippers pocket it only got easier.
Railway continued to be on top and creating more chances. It was soon 5-1 a ball in behind from Brooksy saw Jamie finally finish and get his goal. Then it was 6 with Jacob Chadwick’s ball up field from his own half bounced over the on rushing keepers head and rolled into the empty net.
The game was finished off with the pick of the bunch, a lay off from Brooksy saw Gaynor send a rocket into the top corner from 30 yards out.
Fair play to the back 4 dealing with everything that came their way in the second half and not letting the home side have a sniff and Grahams kicking in testing conditions.
Full time 7-1.

🚂🚂🚂
After a long 5 weeks since Railway was last in action. A bitterly cold day in January in Witheridge was always going to be a tough task after all the turkey and beer.
A depleted Railway side made the trip, a bit more pressure with the previous league game being a defeat.
The Game started and it was like Railway didn’t even have a Christmas break, if it wasn’t for the hosts goalkeeper it could have been an early lead. An early set back saw Charlie Telford come off due to having a bad cough. Railway did take the lead on 25 mins a free kick swung in by Jordan Brooks was met by the only runner Liam Ward who rose like a salmon and headed into the top corner.
1 became 2 not long after, a great team goal consisted of passing round the back and through the midfield, the ball eventually found its way to Rikki Tucker who shot Low, the keeper parried only for Jamie Sly to tap home.
Railway got a bit leggy towards the end of the first half and Witheridge got on the ball a bit more creating a few openings. Right on half time a world class point blank save from Graham in goal meant Railway was going into the break 2-0
Up but it wasn’t to be Railway didn’t deal with it properly and the ball was rocketed home from 30 yards out by one of the Witheridge first teamers👀
Half time 1-2.
Railway was disappointed to have conceded but had to keep going and dig deep with a big second half up and coming.
Railway come out a lot fresher in the second half stop any threat from Witheridge but not many chances getting created.
It was soon 2-2 a goal from nothing, corner whipped in not dealt with found its way into the bottom corner.
Railway kept digging and probing, a couple of half chances fell there way but couldn’t quite get that breakthrough. On the 75th minute mark Railway was awarded a penalty, although matey scored his best goal ever he still wanted Gaynors shirt. Rikki Tucker stepped up and hammered home.
A messy final 5 mins plus added on time saw a few openings. One falling to Sammy Hill running down the right wing, does he square for a Jamie tap in or does he take it to the corner, no he passes back to the goalkeeper because “I was out of breath!!!”
Railway dug deep for one another and deserved the 3 points.
