If you have been to see us at Devon succulents you may have come away with some succulent from us that could come in useful when other medications run out and your skin has dried out from all that hand sanitizer
No 1 Aloe Vera has been in use for 6 thousand years at least with so many proven uses and most things like hand cream and burns relief gel is so easily made and so much more
https://succulentgrower.blogspot.com/2016/
no 2 is Sempervivum tectorum The Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne (742-814 AD) ordered all his subjects to grow houseleeks on their roofs as it was such an important medicine plant they also believed this plant was a love potion
its
antiseptic [ antimicrobial substances that are applied to living tissue/skin to reduce the possibility of infection, sepsis, or putrefaction.]
anti diarrheal [medication which provides symptomatic relief for diarrhoea.]
antiparasitic [Antiparasitics are a class of medications which are indicated for the treatment of parasitic diseases]
anti-inflammatory [refers to the property of a substance or treatment that reduces inflammation or swelling.]
no3 Cobweb Houseleek
an even stronger version
emollient, [Emollients are moisturising treatments applied directly to the skin that are often used to treat skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.]
hemostatic, [retarding or stopping the flow of blood within the blood vessels]
ophthalmic [means pertaining to the eye,]
and sedative. [is a substance that induces sedation by reducing irritability or excitement.]
and so much more

A few things happy to see some light
just a bit of info from Devon the Covers are off for a few days before the cold returns and just a few losses and a handful of mould affected plants not to bad considering how long they have been covered
you need to take care though as some strains of the fungus produce the mycotoxin, patulin. spores that can cause allergic reactions to sensitive people when inhaled.
there sprays but it can be treated easily with the following methods
If the mould is in the soil, remove the affected soil and replace, then put in some apple cider vinegar, baking soda, or cinnamon. If the mould is on the plant, just cut off affected areas but carefully so not to spread spores everywhere.
most growers won't show there problems but I believe its a good thing as it shows anyone can be affected so don.t give up
Been really cold last week
even under thermal covers, and fleece, we have had minus 3
not happy about that.
will be throwing a few things away soon i think
on the plus side its propagation time for succulents any day soon
Trip to the national park
Looking at some great design as well as the gardens in the area this is the way to grow succulents .................
Lanzarote--- where cactus and art come together
Cactus everywhere with great design
Aeoniums growing from home saved seed 90 percent success unusually so
Growing very close together like this is great for little wooded planting groups.
In the last image signs of grey mold in one spot so will have to watch that will try more air movement first then possibly a fungicidal spray or probably just carefully separate and throw away infected bits
Uncovered the plants to check on them and to give light water
lovely to see there ok
just a small amount of mold quickly dealt with
lots trying to flower
