Come on an evening stroll with me: swipe right to enjoy views from my wanderings up to the allotment last night and whilst you soak it in, let me tell you about some changes:

I’m changing the way I work in the studio and dropping a lot of the more commercial work. This is to free up my studio time for projects where I can work with textile waste.

Textile pollution is a massive problem in the world and after a lot of soul searching I realise I want my own artistic practice to focus on problem solving & collaboration.

You may have noticed that I haven’t generated a bunch of new designs this year, in the way I normally would. This started as burn out and then became a whole shift for me in making decisions about my future as an artist.

I’ll do a post another time about burnout, but for now let me tell you what I’m looking forward to:

Focussing on teaching - with workshops and kits at the forefront I am proud to be at a stage in my career where I can share my skills with you

Enjoying experimentation - I’m playing again! This is a truly joyful thing. Setting aside time to genuinely mess around with textiles and not feel that everything I make needs to make bank.

Collaborating - working on projects with other artists and businesses to use up their textile waste. To be honest this is what brought me up short and made me look at my own practice and I’m so glad it did. I’m so looking forward to more of it.

Claiming my name - later in the year I’ll be rebranding to my own name so expect to see changes there. This is important first me in my own journey to be able to put my name on my work.

I launched a new workshop and we helped lots of people mend their garments. We held a discussion panel about our mission to mend. So many wonderful conversations took place and the whole weekend felt like a wonderful ray of light. With thanks to my fellow collective members - I’m already looking forward to the next one 🌟🌟🌟

Well that’s me! What an absolutely superb time I’ve had trading over the last 3 weeks. Tomorrow I’m heading home after the most magical last day in a snow covered I’ve met some incredible fellow artists and made new pals. Enjoyed having lots of lovely interactions with new customers and now I am excited to be going home, seeing my beautiful fam and getting back into the studio ❤️

Maximalist hanging baskets in 2 sizes are on the website now. I’ve been making these for 8 years now and for this collection I’ve switched to the 8mm rope, which means the large size is bigger and they are a bit sturdier. I tested out different designs and landed right back at the colour pop. They just look so pleasing. I hope you will enjoy them too 💙

NEW rope plates. So glad to have tweaked this ever popular design for the new maximalist collection. These full colour pieces are wonderful on their own, or as companions to the minimalist collection. As ever, made with 100% unbleached cotton rope and organic cotton thread.

Day 6 < FINAL DAY > here we are it’s the last day of the Magdalen road pop up at and what a gorgeous week it’s been. Im open until 4pm today so there’s still a bit of time to pop in for shopping and chats 💛💛💛

We had a beautiful last hurrah of the sunshine day at one of our favourite beaches today. It was good to soak up the warm sunshine and cool down in the sea. I’m so grateful that these places are practically on our doorstep. Being outside is so very good for the mind. Scroll right for lots of gorgeous beach shots 😎💛🤩

I’m working on some new things and to photograph them I had to create a makeshift light box. When I came into the studio this morning the light from my skylight was going straight through the hole for the top light and I had so much fun playing with the light and shadows that it was making. These are my favourite two shots that came out of it.

Minimalist flat bowl trios. After launching these in the summer I took them to events and realised they were lacking the punch visually that they needed. Still minimalist, still considered and now featuring a block stitch accent in the middle. This collection is all about the colour pop highlighting the beauty of the rope. Available in 3 sizes and as the full trio these bowls are form & function ❤️💡

Made with unbleached rope and organic cotton thread in the Ruby Cubes studio Dartmoor UK.

Choosing colours was a big deal this time because I’m using a lot less colour than I usually do for these pieces. But the colour that I am using is all block stitch, which means the colours are doing the heavy lifting. The five colours chosen for this all look incredible when block stitched on the rope

Minimalist ~ new pieces are coming soon. I’m still settling on the colours for this work. I really like this gold as it has a rich shimmering quality which pairs beautifully against the rope.

Ruby Cubes x National Theatre collaboration. This was the largest piece that I made for this collection & I combined spiral work with vertical work to make this basket. Adding in lines of block stitch to highlight the beautiful orange tones that are present in the textile twine & finishing with an extra fluffy edging (swipe to see the inside)
