On Friday we said goodbye to Darren Ebbrell, a kind, loving man who left us much too soon.
Celebrant Jackie Caught led Darren’s service at Exeter and Devon Crematorium, and one thing that became apparent was how loved Darren was!
The chapel was overflowing with people wearing red, to show their support of Darren’s beloved Liverpool football club!
Darren was carried into the chapel by his loving family whilst listening to ‘Dire Straits’.
We heard about Darren’s 44 years, what he liked, and what he wasn’t so keen on. We heard memories from family and a beautiful tribute from his daughter.
We watched an emotional visual tribute full of photos of Darren growing up into the kind hearted man he was.
We then joined together to sing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ Darren would have found this particularly funny knowing his friends who didn’t quite have the same love for Liverpool as he did were now singing their song for him!
We said a final farewell to Darren’s comforting physical presence, and allowed him onto his next journey.
Darren’s friends and family raised a wonderful £418.08 for Hospiscare Exeter, the team who so lovingly cared for Darren in his final days. Along with online donations there is over £1,000.00 raised in Darren’s memory! ❤️

You are likely to have read the distressing news about a funeral home in Hull over the weekend.
We would like to reassure you all that we ARE members of the National Association of Funeral Directors and we are bound to the Funeral Director Code and inspected regularly to ensure we meet the highest standards. The funeral home in question was not.
The Code is designed to help those in funeral service to act in the public interest and aspire to the highest professional standards and it includes specific outcomes in respect of how deceased people are cared for and the transparency of information provided to bereaved people, as well as more general requirements to meet all relevant laws and regulations.
We are more than happy to allow families to visit our mortuary facilities at ISCA to see for themselves where their loved one will be resting until the date of the cremation, once they arrive with us at Constable Court, they remain with us until their funeral.
I hope this provides a little reassurance in a time of great uncertainty for many. 💕
A gentle reminder that it’s Mothering Sunday on 10th March, the Crematorium grounds are always open for you to walk around and spend time reflecting and remembering the Mothers no longer with us 💐
Our beautiful grounds will be open all weekend, If you need that time to reflect and remember her.

We listened to some classical music, we heard some memories of Malcolm shared by his daughter, we listened to “You’ll Never Walk Alone” whilst placing roses on Malcolm’s coffin, and then we joined together raising a glass of Malcolm’s favourite wine, making sure he had one too.
