Run for Open Door in 2025 and get a free entry! Open Door started 30 years ago by the local church, providing twice weekly drop-ins for homeless and rough sleepers. Today, we still provide homeless support, but our services have extended to meet lots of different needs in our community.

Every person we meet has a story. It is our privilege to hear those stories and do what we can to help. We guarantee safe and welcoming spaces across all our projects and services, offering quality support without judgement. Our services include a Community Café, 1:1 Support, Craft Sessions, Youth Services, Parent Hub and Men’s Shed.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT : Female winner of the 2024 Great West Run Half Marathon

We are aware that the winner of the women's 2024 Great West Run Half Marathon has received a number of unsubstantiated and speculative comments regarding her gender and eligibility.

We do not condone the victimisation and abuse that has been levelled at Anna over recent days and anyone identified as being party to this will be banned from taking part in WMP events and their identities will be shared with England Athletics authorities. Furthermore, anyone making negative or derisive comment regarding the matter on our social media platforms will be banned.

The event holds a UKA licence and we have been working with England Athletics to follow their policy and guidelines regarding the claims that have been made.

Following investigation, we would like to confirm that Anna Harrold's win at the 2024 event is eligible and still stands. We have had no reason or evidence to believe otherwise.

Weather forecast: variable 🌦️
As always, the weather has a mind of its own, so please check the weather forecast before you set off tomorrow to ensure you have the right kit and clothing for your event. And remember, please don't overdress and risk overheating, especially during the half marathon! Bring spare clothing for the start that you are happy to discard by the side.

Here are some tips to keep you hydrated through your challenge!
✅ Start drinking more water from now and avoid alcohol
✅ Bring a full bottle of water that you can refill at the hydration stations throughout the day or use our cups (pinch at the top, slow down to sip - you don't have to run at full speed while drinking!)
✅ Drink to thirst on the day, do not over drink
✅ If you start to feel tired or unwell during your run, please slow down and consider stopping

Our pacing team, supported by Coopah, will be out on course at this year’s Bishop Fleming Great West Run! They’ll each be running to a designated time, helping you to meet your finish time goals.
