In Irish folklore bluebells are associated with spirits and fairies, and not always for good!🧚‍♂️

This Irish folk story tells of a woman who picked bluebells on a fairy hill and woke up bald the next morning!

"There is a woman who lives beside us, and whose name is Cassie Doherty. One day, she picked bluebells in a fairy hill, and she broke some of the stalks. She went to bed that night, but in the morning there was not any hair on here head. It grew again, but it was never the same colour afterwards."

Meet the Hearth facilitators Mac Macartney, Tugba Kirhan and Joey Waterson🌻

Mac Macartney is a writer, speaker, leadership consultant, eco/peace advocate, and spiritual journeyman. Over a period of twenty years he was mentored and coached by a group of Native American teachers. During this training and ever since he has attempted to bring two worlds together – an ancient worldview that emphasises relationship, interdependence and reverence for life, with the huge challenges and equally huge opportunities of the 21st Century.

Tugba Kirhan first came to Embercombe in 2018 as a participant on The Journey and has supported the core team in various capacities since that time. Having deepened her relationship with the land and Embercombe’s ethos, she now facilitates on programmes including The Journey and The Hearth. With a background in the humanitarian sector, Tugba is a project manager, facilitator, coach, and breathwork & embodiment practitioner.

Joey Waterson is one of the founding members and elders of Embercombe. He is one of Embercombe’s story holders and fire keepers – at a time when story, that which ties together the past and the future, is one of the most important things we hold responsibility for as humans. He has been involved in offering The Journey and The Hearth since their inception.

Landscapes of Making is a 5 day residential programme on Embercombe's rewilding land. The days will be layered with the learning of craft skills including basketry, paint and ink making and wild weaving, alongside song, ritual, the sharing of stories and walking the land. You will learn about the plants and minerals local to Embercombe that can be used for making, and the processes necessary to unlock their potential and create in a collaborative way with the natural world.

We are looking for some “people people” to be our new host volunteers this summer💛 You will work together to look after our guests and ensure the smooth running of our events.
This role is ideally suited for someone who is comfortable engaging with new people, able to communicate clearly, who is flexible and able to problem solve while maintaining a calm demeanour.
