Halsdown House
Halsdown nursing home delivers excellence in care to 17 elderly residents. We are a small family run business dating back to the 1960's.
Please share far and wide….Halsdown are ready for trick or treaters that dare to enter, residents are preparing the treats and dressing for the occasion 👻🎃💀
Just when we thought summer had left us….what a beautiful day ☀️
Obviously means we had to make the most of it and get out as much as possible ❤️
What a fun summer we have had, the residents have had so many adventures (unfortunately no photos for some of the days out)! The weather has been pretty kind to us, we have been to the beach, out on a cruise, using public transport to get to places like Topsham and lympstone, had many estuary walks and visits to the local farm for a delicious cake and cup of tea as well as shopping trips and many more!
Thank you to the staff for always being so accommodating and going out whenever asked, it really does mean the world to our lovely residents ❤️
Another beautiful day means a trip to the seaside for a good dose of vitamin D and an ice cream of course!!
For those who chose to stay at Halsdown we played with the reminiscing ball and listened to stories from the residents past. All of whom had such a fascinating story to tell.
Praying this weather hangs around a little longer for more days like this ❤️🤞
What a beautiful day….it was too hot for some of our residents who declined an outing but these two had a wonderful morning ❤️ we love an impromptu beach day
The benefit from animal therapy…..can take someone with extreme anxiety from complete emotional turmoil to calm and relaxed in less than a minute ❤️🐰
The sun has come out to play once again and we couldn’t be happier 🍦☀️❤️
Halsdown is becoming an animal sanctuary at times. With Luna the therapy dog, the mischievous rabbits and now a tortoise!! It’s so nice to see that animals bring so much joy to the residents ❤️
Rain rain go away…..we want some more sunshine so we can go off on adventures please (preferably without rain coats and umbrellas)!! Few more pictures from the last couple of days ❤️
This weather makes everything so much better….we finally got out and about with a few of our residents and they LOVED it!
Think cabin fever had been setting in with this cold damp weather so let’s all start doing some sun dances please and continue our outings as much as possible ☀️❤️
Here’s to all the mothers at Halsdown, and to all our women who have gone through the pain of not being able to bear children, or those who have lost their children too young…today we celebrated them all! Everyone has been truly spoilt, thank you so much to the staff for putting on an excellent afternoon, your efforts were truly appreciated! ❤️
This years Christmas party was a huge success, thank you to the relatives and friends for coming along and supporting Halsdown, it really means the world to us!
Here are a few pictures (I was so busy didn’t have time to take very many)
The Christmas activity which everyone asks for year after year…..wreath making!! Once again a huge success and the residents really enjoyed themselves! Thank you to the amazing Jacqui for the guidance and teaching….and as always to the staff for helping as the wire is very tricky for arthritic fingers. ❤️
Our raffle prizes are coming in thick and fast, we can’t thank everyone in the community enough for their generosity!
There is still plenty of time to buy your tickets before we announce the winners on Thursday at our Christmas party so please do remember to grab your tickets from the reception area, we have some great prizes!
Anyone who is coming along to our party on Thursday please let a staff member know so we can ensure there is space for you.
🎅 🎄 🎉
We managed a wonderful outing to Powderham on Friday. The weather was bitterly cold and no one fancied a walk outside for any longer than necessary but the food was excellent and the farm shop proved a huge hit. We definitely have fair weather residents so will wait for some beach days before we next venture too far ❤️
Uh oh! Santa sent him early this year….he’s tired out from travelling all that way so getting his rest before the antics begin on December 1st! 🎅
We are getting underway with our festive activities and the residents are loving it! Starting this weekend we have Christmas related activities up to three times a week…..everyone is very welcome to join us 🎅🎄
Had a cheeky little look around Kings Garden centre today, all that shopping was such hard work, they needed a tea and scone stop!
Halsdown is feeling festive! We have our activities booked in and we have our raffle book out by the signing in book….please support us where you can and as always everyone is welcome to join us 🎄
Happy 5th November everyone! 🎆 🧨 ❤️
Happy Halloween from all at Halsdown…a couple of our staff and residents even managed to escape for a few hours and head to Darts farm for some pumpkins and of course refuel in their cafe. 🎃 👻
We have had our lovely Claire coming along to Halsdown now for a while and she manages to get everyone singing along which is amazing!! They really seem to enjoy it ❤️
Vitamin D, fresh air and a good dose of laughter is a must have ❤️
Here’s our wonderful Ena making her debut in the Times paper (form an orderly queue for autographs) with Ena’s wit and bubbly personality it’s no wonder she was a huge hit!
