With another v. hot day ahead of us 🥵 take a moment this morning to top up your bird feeders, bird baths and rain catchers. Our feathered friends, bees, butterflies and insects will really appreciate you!

We call these peony plant supports, but really, they’re ideal for a whole range of plants and shrubs. Here’s a large one on one of my favourite shrubs… Hydrangea Annabelle 🤍. Those huge heavy blooms are just stunning, but they do break easily with unexpected wind and rain (which always happens!). The naturally rusted steel support disappears discreetly in the foliage letting Annabelle be the star of the show!

Introducing some of this year’s Cabbage Patch Crew! 🌱🐌 I 🩷 these so much I just had to share them with you immediately! Even if the algorithm will hate me for posting at this time 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ve already delivered the first batch to Room 1553 at Baskets & Blooms. (My other shops will follow v. shortly). Be quick though, because these sold fast last year! Each snail is handmade (by me!) and super fun and quirky 🙃 They are THE ONLY snail you will want in your garden 🪴. Can't get to my shops? Something different on the work bench today… 🐝 A giant bee sculpture 🐝 I’ve left him outside to develop that lovely rusty patina and I’ve just finished applying a sealing lacquer 🤎🤎🤎 I’d like to keep him as my workshop buddy, but as soon as he cures, I’ll be flying him off to one of my shops. But which one?! Help me decide!

Dragonfly rain catchers
Our dragonfly rain catchers are proving popular this week. Filled with water, they make perfect little drinking stations for even the tiniest garden creatures. Oh Natalie 🤦‍♀️ what have you started?! Decided to give our Swift-Cut plasma table a spring clean since we had some unexpected mechanical downtime. I feel like I’ve had a full workout just removing all the slats and metal fallouts and carrying them to the skip at the end of our yard 🥵. I also look like a swamp monster and I’m not even half way through. Now to clean the sludge out, cut new steel slats and reassemble. See. I don’t just make pretty things 🤣

Happy Friday, everyone! How are we all? It looks like Mr. Magpie is getting ready for the weekend ahead - anyone else got any lovely plans?

Cutting a new design for the first time is so nerve-wracking! 😬 Did I design it correctly? Have I bridged all the right elements? Have I left any random nodes that’s gonna cause the machine to fire random holes?! (It happens!) Steel is so expensive right now, mistakes hurt. Touch wood (ha ha, steel!) this one’s looking fabulous so far! 🤞🏻

The birds 💖 the feeders we have hanging from our shepherds crooks all around the garden. Mr. Pigeon 🐦 though, has taken it one step further and is using our rain catcher as his own private seat at the buffet 🤣 Want one, too? Our shepherd’s crooks are 6ft tall and made from solid 10mm steel bar, just £16 each.

It’s nice to see some sun at last. What a ☔️ day it’s been! I’m not going to grumble though… it helps the steel rust beautifully! 📸: our owl wind spinner dancing in the breeze 🦉
