One major cause of lower back pain is Sacroiliac Joint (SIJ) dysfunction, responsible for 15-30% of cases (Barros et al., 2019). SIJ dysfunction also contributes to knee and shoulder pain, impacting the function of all spinal and limb joints. The SIJ, a central joint in the body, resembles an inverted 'I'. Its vertical component slides up and down, while the horizontal part moves forward and backward.

SIJ dysfunction often results from improper movement or prolonged pressure, such as incorrect sitting or standing. Pain typically occurs on one side, causing the person to overload the other side to alleviate discomfort. Restricted SIJ movement on one side leads to added pressure on the opposite side, altering posture and potentially causing hip and knee pain. Over time, this can result in scoliosis or even disc herniation.

Protein intake should increase from 0.75g to closer to 1g per kg of body weight during menopause. For instance, an egg has 6g of protein, and a salmon fillet provides around 21g.
