What a gorgeous day on The Old High Street! Our doors are open 12-4pm for the last day off our Extended Egg-Xhibition.

There are still some cracking eggs available, all one of a kind original art works, just £40 each, and all profits made go back into Fourth Wall to enable us to continue to run our accessible programme for the community.

It’s been so wonderful to work with such an amazing group of artists for this project, and to hear all your lovely feedback about the eggs. We appreciate you all so much - what a bunch of good eggs you are! 🥚

A date for your diary! The Findings Exhibition from the research project will open on Friday 26 April here at Fourth Wall Folkestone.

Since September 2023 What Cost Folks? have been working on a community action research project asking how the rising cost of living has impacted the mental wellbeing of the Folkestone community. This exhibition is the culmination of the research. Come and see what they found out and what actions are needed.

Our next community swap event is organised by the wonderful and is coming up this Fri 12 -Sun 14 April at Fourth Wall Folkestone.

If you have any books you can donate ahead of the opening, please get in touch with otherwise, simply pop in during their opening hours 12-4pm this Fri, Sat & Sun.

Books will be available to swap, but even if you don't have any to swap you can still pop in and choose a book! Suggested donations will be signposted for those able to contribute financially, but there is absolutely no pressure to spend money - they put it best: "affordable reading should be available to all".

Any donations raised will go to Fourth Wall Folkestone CIC.

Bodies Change, Clothes Should Too!
A brilliant Community Clothes Swap organised by at Fourth Wall this week and there are two more days left!

Open Saturday and Sunday 11-6pm.
Everybody is welcome to take whatever clothes they like and drop off any clothes that they no longer want. Simple.

The events taking place here in April link with the community research project which focuses on mental well-being and the cost of living crisis. It’s a series of things that can help our wonderful local community support each other.

What a cracking weekend it’s been so far! Thank you to everyone who has been along already to see and buy the stunning range of unique, one of a kind, ceramic eggs decorated by almost 100 wonderful artists.

We still have loads of incredible eggs on display and available to buy. All are £40 minimum donation and remain anonymous until after purchase. We have a list of contributing artists on the website and in the space if you want to try and guess who made what!

The gallery will be open 12-4 today and tomorrow, so so please do pop in. All proceeds go right back into Fourth Wall Folkestone and help us continue our accessible programme for the community.

I am delighted to be one of the invited artists taking part in EGG-XHIBITION fundraiser. Fourth Wall Folkestone CIC is a creative space focused on all things art and mental health. Open to all as a non-traditional gallery, open studio, and research space. Inviting the local community to reimagine the role of an artist and art in society by holding accessible events and workshops. A group of artists have each decorated a ceramic egg in their own style. These will be displayed and sold as part of this special one off egg-xhibition to raise money for Fourth Wall Folkestone CIC. The designs will be kept anonymous and all will be sold for the same price.

This exhibition is part of a community effort on The Old High Street in Folkestone, aiming to encourage people to support small, creative, independent businesses.

It has been so wonderful to be able to display the brilliant work of stitch and embroidery artist throughout this month, and unbelievably there are now just three more days to come and see the show!

Check out the brilliant bollard which was created at our International Women's Day themed Yarn Bombing workshop with the wonderfully Suzi - how amazing is this?!

Coming up at the end of the month at Fourth Wall Folkestone...

We have invited a wonderful group of artists to take part in our EGG-XHIBITION fundraiser (yes, we went there!).

These fabulous artists have each decorated a ceramic egg in their own style. These will be displayed and sold as part of this special one off Egg-Xhibition to raise money for Fourth Wall Folkestone CIC. The designs will be kept anonymous and all will be sold for the same price.

It's going to be a brilliantly fun exhibition with SO MANY amazing artists from across the UK taking part. Pop the dates in your diary - Friday 29 March to Monday 01 April!

Aside: Ordinarily Fourth Wall’s Director Sarah would not be programming specifically around Easter (this event is not linked to Easter in a religious sense). This is a symbolic celebration of having her eggs removed in a long awaited, much campaigned for hysterectomy!

Fourth Wall Folkestone's Director will be holding an informal roundtable discussion on Saturday 23 March. This is part of 'Every Body' - our March programming that highlights causes including Eating Disorder Awareness Week, International Women’s Day and Endometriosis Awareness Month.

Come along to find out more about the experiences that inform Sarah’s art practice and inspired her to set up Fourth Wall Folkestone.

All of the themes of this months programming are reflected in Sarahs practice – mental health, disordered eating, endometriosis and how systems impact individuals, especially women. Take part in the conversation, ask questions and if you feel able to – share your own experiences.

We are so delighted by all the wonderful feedback we’ve had in response to our current exhibition by - thanks to everyone who has already visited.

These pieces are so intricate and detailed that they really should be seen up close and in real life. Luckily there’s still plenty of time to pop in! The exhibition is open 12-4 Friday-Sunday until 24 March.
