Hello peoples, I've not been on here much as life has gotten in the way. First time back in the shop for about 6 weeks now, and I am currently building a chess board. Each piece has been positioned by hand. It's far from finished as more ideas keep popping in my head about the next step. Anyhow, just a quick peek of it while I'm sanding it down. I've gone for a proper gothic look on this..

This popped up my my memories this morning, I made this table and benches a year ago.

New tool day (for me).. 6 weeks ago, there's me saying I don't need a lathe, I never use it.. Well, today I picked up another one! Bench top this time, though. So easy to throw under the bench when it's not needed..

Flatting jig, slightly over Complicated, but I've never done anything the easy way!

Well, that's another project finished up, 2ft round tabletop for a motorhome. Sapele and Ash wood finished off with Hard wax oil to give it a water resistant and hard wearing finish..

As most of you may know by now, I have a new toy. I can now personalise the items I make, as well as make signs with silly slogans or what ever you fancy on them.. drop me a message with what you would like and a rough size..

First and second attempt on my new cnc machine.
Took me an hour to build it, 2.5 hours to get the computer to talk to the cnc! And then a couple of practice cuts. The second cut did not come out with the finer detail around the eyes, but I'm still happy with it.. so much to learn! 🤯

I sold my lathe yesterday as I don't use it and takes up too much room.. so a quick bench build today.
Purchased 7 2x4 @1.7m. Cut up to size using mitre saw, brand new R55TBL + table saw. It took 2.5hrs to build with pocket screws and a few bolts. Total size 1.8m wide 700mm deep and 900mm tall. There is plenty of room for new tool day next week.

Chess board coming along nicely, now have to fill it full of epoxy.. not sure on what colour tho..

We were out and about yesterday and popped by for a little tasting, as our friends at introduced us to them. (Great wines, keep an eye out for them). Well, needless to say, the wood nerd came out in me when I saw the 10ft live edge table and benchs they had upstairs 😍
