Basil's Sandwich Bar

Our bread is from Sandgate Bakery and fillings are made fresh using local ingredients where possible. Homemade cakes, sausage rolls are available daily. Many of the products for sale in our delicatessen are locally made by independent makers. We take pride in sourcing quality local produce whilst supporting other small businesses. Reducing food miles and plastic is also important to us and we use bio degradable or recyclable packaging for all of our take away food, and drinks.

For those who like to plan ahead, I have a selection of cheeses that will keep into the new year!

New in for Christmas...
Dovedale Blue, handmade to an ancient recipe in the heart of the Peak District, is a creamy rich brine dipped blue cheese.

Blue Monday created by Alex James of Blur and now made by Yorkshire cheesemakers Shepherds Purse, it is a Gorgonzola style cows milk cheese

A good choice of British and continental cheeses selected by are available now.

More cheese to follow in the coming weeks so keep an eye out for updates.

Christmas at Basil's 🎄

We are running a selection of events starting tonight with the annual Cheriton Christmas Light Switch-on!
We are open in the morning till 1pm for breakfasts and then we're re-opening at 2pm for festive treats, mulled wine and boozy hot chocolate.

Come and join us on Friday the 15th as we are celebrating our 7th birthday with a Christmas shopping event from 2pm onwards!

Last but not least, on the 23rd of December we are offering a festive breakfast and we are accepting bookings now.

I have a couple of notices to share...

I will be closing early tomorrow (Saturday 16th September) morning to catch a train to London for a long awaited school reunion. Apologies for any inconvenience.
Cruffins will be here at 10am.and breakfast is being served until 11.15.

I will also be closed on the evening of Friday 22nd and also on Saturday 23rd September. I have a visitor staying for the weekend and we have plans. I'm looking forward to a much needed mini break too 😊

We have a wide selection of vegan and vegetarian options throughout our menu, including cakes, soups & drinks.

Customers return time and time again for our Barista coffee, and we serve lactose free milk options too.

Conscious of food miles, where possible, we use locally produced and sourced ingredients for our fillings and breakfasts and proud to support other local small businesses.
