Repetitive strain ( RSI ) is caused by repeated movement of a part of the body. Repetition and over use causes damage to your muscles, tendons or nerves, They are very common and usually will affect your
Fingers
Thumbs
Wrists
Arms
Elbows
Shoulders
Knees
Repetitive strain injury, as the name suggests are caused by doing the same movement repeatedly until it starts to hurt your body.
Most repetitive strain injuries can be treated at home with a combination of resting, ice and painkillers.
We don’t all have the luxury of being able to rest the affected area for a prolonged period of time so end up carrying on with the movements in time making the injury worse.
Osteopathic treatment can help alleviate discomfort by releasing tension, reducing inflammation and promoting healing in the affected muscles, tendons and nerves.
Acupuncture can also help relieve pain and symptoms of Repetitive strain injuries. It works by causing a small trauma to the area surrounding the strain to promote quicker healing.

Let’s talk about necks
The most flexible part of the spine, the neck allows for movements to scan our surroundings. Proper neck movement is vital to survival as the neck joins the body to the brain meaning we need the neck for our brains to communicate to the body🧠
Postural issues, sports injuries, overuse, arthritis and emotional factors such as anxiety and depression can all contribute to neck pain.
Having neck pain can make it difficult to turn your head in any direction, it can be uncomfortable and painful, gentle stretching and massage can ease the pain but long term treatment from an Osteopath is the best option – a corrective manual therapy that encourages bone and muscular alignment of the neck and upper back muscles that become strained.
It’s super important to care for your neck, we often take the most necessary parts of our bodies for granted when we should be looking after them, being an Osteopath we can offer help with any pain you may be experiencing, putting together a treatment plan to get you feeling your best again!

We’re all guilty of having poor posture now and then: a tough workout at the gym, fatigued after a long day or a bad nights sleep can all lead to not standing or sitting straight and engaging our muscles.
Having good posture is very important to your overall health. Bad posture could cause neck, back and shoulder pain and stiffness, stress incontinence due to pressure on the abdomen and heartburn / slowed digestion.

The London Marathon is Sunday 21st April and if you are taking part you are most probably training pretty hard🏋🏼Running is a fantastic way to keep fit, it helps to improve cardio-vascular fitness, enhance muscle tone, improve circulation and even lifts your mood!😀

Osteopathy Suffolk have put together a post to help any of you who may be working at a desk all day or sitting on your computer for a prolonged period of time, It is important to get up and move around ( if you can ) every 30 minutes or so to keep your joints moving, if you are suffering with any pain or discomfort try these stretches.
Stretching can help ease the pain for a little while but if you want long term solutions you should be regularly seeing an Osteopath as we focus on your whole body, including the soft tissues ( such as muscles, ligaments and tendons), the spine and nervous system.
