**YOGA COURSES RETURNING **
As the callender turns to September, and our venues are now reopening, it feels time to gently transition back to teaching our yoga courses...
I hope you have all been keeping well & have been navigating these challenging times, as best we all can. For me, it has been a time of pulling back, but an opportunity to focus more inwardly during my first year of motherhood.
I understand that for many of you (myself included), returning to classes will bring mixed emotions. Your well-being & safety is my priority, and our courses will be returning with reduced capacity to accommodate social distancing measures & with adapted covid-safe practices in place.
My hope is that i can welcome you back to your practice, within a supportive space where you can nourish your physical & mental well being.
Full details of our reduced timetable & advanced booking information will be shared this week.
I look forward to welcoming you back and reconnecting with you (at a socially acceptable distance!)
Amy x (Sofia modelling her downward dog 💪)
Thank you for all your positive messages of support and your understanding during this challenging time.
I've had a lot of requests for online lesson plans/videos to support your home practice. I think this would be a wonderful tool to enable our continued practice, whilst we are needing to postpone group classes.
My intention is to film a series of yoga sessions to be offered to my existing students, alongside lesson plans as additional support tools. These will be based on practices we have previously shared together, to ensure more confidence and safety.
I need to work out the logistics, but I'd aim to offer these at a reduced cost and send a video package to those interested via private message (rather than time based live feeds). This gives more flexibility for all and practices can be repeated through the coming weeks (whilst we bridge our gap!)
I'm trying to initially gauge demand, so if this is something you would be keen for - if you could comment below that would be great!
I'll begin sewing the seeds in the meantime! 🧘
Sending strength & support to you all
Amy 🙏
My heart is feeling all the 'feels' today....
It feels heavy.
It feels for the vulnerable who have genuine fears for their health and life,
It feels for those who are carrying the responsibility of trying to protect those they love,
It feels for those whose choices feel limited by personal circumstances,
It feels for those who are becoming victims, to those who choose to ignore what is needed,
It feels for those who are making tough work choices, with genuine fears of the future impact.
It feels for the mental health impact of fear, social detachment and isolation.
It feels for those affected by those who choose 'I'
over 'we'.
My hope is that we all choose wisely.
That we both listen & hear.
That we prioritise what matters and what is truly needed, both now and over the coming weeks.
Without our health, we have nothing.
In a world of instant gratification, it's time to pull back.
🙏
So who's feeling the 'hippy' awareness after our Pigeon party this week!?..
Are you?...
Team Pigeon '👍💓' or
Team Pigeon '😣👎'...
Comment below!
To confirm, all yoga classes will be running as normal this week.
This week will be a grounding week of HIP spacers ('openers') exploring PIGEON as our focus posture.
Sadly due to illness which has required a hospital visit, I am needing to cancel this week's classes to allow time to recover.
The circumstances are unfortunately unavoidable, but my sincerest apologies for the late notice and changes to course dates.
Classes will continue for an additional week at the end of the course, to make up for this week's cancelled sessions.
Warm wishes
Amy Bordas 🧘
Thank you to all that shared space together during our first week of the yoga courses.
And for making my return to teaching such a rewarding one.
Namaste

Before we begin our yoga courses this week, a few answers to hopefully settle a few common worries! Any other worries - fire them away in the comments below!...
1. I can't do yoga because i'm not flexible enough!
Oh yes you can! Flexibility isn’t a prerequisite for yoga, flexibility is a physical (and mental) bonus you will develop as a result of regular yoga practice. Through yoga practice, you will learn to use your breath as a tool to ‘soften’ and release tension within your body. Creating space to move more freely towards greater flexibility.
2. I don’t have the right body for yoga!
Oh yes you do! There is no right (or wrong) body for yoga. Everybody and every body can access yoga. At its best, yoga is a beautifully adaptive practice which is inclusive of all. Yoga does not discriminate by size, shape, injury, age (insert worry of choice), your mat is welcoming and ready for you to begin from your body’s starting point.
3. I’d like to try…but I don’t think I’ll be any good at yoga!
Any change begins with that first step, and it’s called yoga practice for a reason! Unlike what social media often likes to project, yoga isn’t about contorting your body into the perfect (intimidating) posture! Yoga is your practice, no one else’s. It is choosing to begin at your own starting point, and choosing to direct your attention inward. It is choosing to prioritise your mental and physical health It is choosing to commit to your practice by showing up on your mat, knowing that even on the tougher days, you’ll feel better for it. It is connecting with your body, your breath and your thoughts and nurturing a healthy relationship between them. It is about shifting our focus from what looks good, to what feels good.
4. I’m too busy for yoga, I don’t have time!
You’re right, life is busy and our time is limited. In the juggle of work, family and life commitments, finding that time for you can be a challenge and effort, but that time to prioritise your health and wellbeing is essential. That pocket of self-care time is important to regain some physical and mental balance, after all ‘you can’t pour from an empty cup’. The great thing about our courses is that they enable a structure to prioritise and commit that weekly time for yourself. An hour of time for you to ‘disconnect’ from the external busy, and ‘reconnect’ with yourself.
5. I’m not good at physically and mentally relaxing – maybe I’m too stressed for yoga!?
A busy/stressed ‘monkey mind’ or body, is fact a strong reason why you should be practicing yoga. A fundamental principle of yoga is that your body and mind are one and connected. Stress in one domain will affect the other and vice versa. Many of us live primarily in either our mind or our body, which creates imbalance. Wherever you fall on this spectrum, yoga helps you to balance and tone the connection between your body and mind. The Yogic union of the body, mind and breath also trains your counter-stress response system (the parasympathetic nervous system) to improve health and well-being.
Full course booking details have now been sent out to all those booked onto our courses via Facebook message or email. Please check your inbox and message request folder (as sometimes bounces here if a new member!)
Pop me a message if not received or any further questions. 😊
Looking forward to that yoga glow returning very soon! 🙌🧘
A little information on what you may like to bring to our courses and other information to support your practice ✔
* A yoga mat. It's much nicer to have your own personal mat for your practice, so please bring your yoga mat to each session. You can pick up a basic yoga mat from most sports shops, large supermarkets and high street stores such as TKMax. I'm trying to reduce carrying mats in bulk, but any issues please pop me a message as I have mats to borrow!
* A bottle of water to stay hydrated.
* A layer to wear during relaxation (Savasana) or a blankets, pillow etc for your comfort.
* Full cash payment of £40 at the first session of the course. There will be a weekly sign in sheet to sign upon arrival too.
What to wear!?
* Any fitness wear and either bare feet or yoga grip socks (no footwear). Layers are best as parts of the session will be cooler and still, whilst others will build energy and heat. Above all else, wear what you feel comfortable in - yoga is a safe space with no judgement.
😊🙏
In the build up to our February courses starting, I'll be sharing some useful tips & advice, to support and strengthen your yoga experience!
Let us begin with how to create a yoga practice that works for YOU.
In yoga (as in life), there is no one perfect fit that works for all! Everybody and every body is unique. There is no right or wrong body for yoga!
One of the joys of yoga is it is adaptable to what YOU need. To what your body and mind needs from your practice. Your practice is yours and no one else's.
During our sessions we may explore the same postures or practices, but our individual processes will be very different. What's most important is that we begin from our own starting point, and work with our body from a place of respect and care. The end destination of the posture, is less important than the journey within it. Remember how it feels is more important than how it looks!
Below is a useful article which explores some of the ways your practice can be adapted to better support your needs.

I now have the two best jobs in the world, teaching the yoga that I love and being a mummy 💜🧘

Our hearts are overjoyed to announce the birth of our beautiful baby girl...
Sofia Alba Bordas
'Sofia' - for 'wisdom'
'Alba' - Catalan meaning 'dawn' our 'new beginning' 💜
Who rocketed into the world on her due date Wednesday 21st August, at 12.31am weighing a dinky 6lbs 3oz.
My hope for an active hypnobirth was realised, and she arrived calmly without any pain relief, within 3 hours of arriving at the birthing suite.
Our hearts are bursting with love and we are soaking in these precious first moments with her in our arms 💜
A big heartfelt THANK YOU to all my wonderful yoga students who have shared our courses these past months! It has been my absolute joy to get to know you all and to see our yoga community grow & flourish!
I've witnessed so much growth in strength, flexibility, mobility & self belief, as you've 'listened & felt' your way into your breath & created that mindful space.
Although I'm so excited for the arrival of our baby girl and looking forward to quality family time during maternity leave, I will miss our weekly sessions & very much look forward to our return in January!
Lesson plans will be sent out as promised to those signed up this week, and I will keep you all updates with the restart course dates and of course the arrival of our baby girl. 💜
Take care of yourselves and carry forward your learnings,
