Well this was a LOVELY surprise! We are finalists in this years The Greats awards for best independent gift retailer in the West and South West. Excuse the humble brag but honestly this is so lovely. It’s industry nominated so to be voted for by other people in the business is just amazing 🤩 And we are tiny! I mean, teeny tiny! The other illustrious gift shops in our category are bigger or have more shops and are all amazing so we are very happy to be included. Go us little shops! A really fantastic start to the week 😃

Bit of late Mother’s Day inspo for anyone that has left it realllllly late. All the classics here. Mugs, socks, vases, chocolate, jewellery. Can’t go wrong really! Buy a card, make a card, buy some flowers, make a cup of tea, cook dinner. Do something small but just don’t forget. Because mums are awesome 🩷💐

New colours in stock! Woo! These won’t last long. We also have a couple of pink Gluggles left over after the pre orders and a lovely vibrant orange. We LOVE these! For anyone that has ordered, we can hold onto them for up to a week and then we will have to put them back out for sale I’m afraid. More jugs coming at the end of March including a bright sunny yellow shade which is AMAZING!

So it’s apparently Blue Monday today. Don’t forget, it’s only as blue as you want it to be. Don’t let the media make you feel bad by constantly telling you that it’s the saddest day of the year and that’s how you should be feeling too! If you’re having a hard time, take care of yourself but don’t feel worse because you are told that you should. Don’t forget the sun is out, there are dogs, music, books, tulips, cake and had a massive win yesterday! (This is my list, it’s probably not yours..) I’m sending out cards today. Just because. It’s nice to get a card in the post that you’re not expecting. That’s how I’m saying my a big FU to ‘Blue Monday’ 😠 Have a good week everyone 🩵

January is always a bit ‘meh’ but now the new cards, prints, flowers and coloured glassware are starting to come in, everything just feels so much….BRIGHTER! So much new stuff on the way. It’s not so bad really 🌈

Just realised we hadn’t said Happy New Year to everyone. A tad late but saying it now! Again, thank you all for your purchases, likes and comments during 2023. It was a challenging year for so many people and we lost many amazing businesses 😔 We feel very lucky to have lots of supportive customers and we love you all 🙌 Here we go again then for 2024 with our usual agenda of buying loads of unusual things in the (mostly) £3-£20
price range that we hope you will love! Kicking off our 2024 Insta with this frog mug with mushroom hat which probably gives you an idea of the level we are aiming for this year! Also, just to let you know we will be closing at 4 from Mondays to Fridays this month. Because January. Open till 5 as usual on Saturdays. Let’s hope this year is a fantastic one for everyone!

Sorry if you got a little squished with everyone packed into the shop or you tried to get in and there wasn’t any room! Today is Small Business Saturday! Woo! Go us littlies! Just wanted to say a huge thankyou to everyone that comes into our little shops, buys something or tells us they love what we do or likes us online. It’s appreciated. If you get a chance to visit any of your local small businesses today, please do. That’s what I’m doing today in between helping out with the Secret Santa purchasers in my own small business 🎁 Have a great weekend! 🎄

The shelf of legends 🙌

With the horrible news that we have yet more amazing businesses closing in our little town, I just want to give a shout out to Frome and all the small businesses that we have. It makes me so sad when I hear people say ‘there’s nothing in Frome.’ What! Just because the shops may not stock what you are particularly looking for, they are not ‘nothing’! We have specialist shops aplenty. Bookshops, sewing/crafting shops, an amazing stationery shop, pet shops, a doggy boutique, shops packed with hand crafted goods often made by local crafters. We have a specialist chocolate shop, beautiful jewellery from talented makers, an incredible toy shop, hardware shops, homewares shops, gift shops that cater for everything from the sublime to the ridiculous (hands up to being the ridiculous) and probably the best record shop in the world! Frome is not nothing! I can promise you that the owner of every one of these businesses puts their blood, sweat and tears into their shops and they really care. I don’t think anyone wants their customers to spend money they haven’t got on things they don’t need BUT maybe you could think about buying local rather than online if it’s something you did need. Honestly, the shops here are so wonderful and I feel so lucky to be one of the shopkeepers of Frome and so proud when visitors to the town tell me what a wonderful place it is and how much fun they are having shopping here. (This happens a lot!) Of course Frome like nearly every other town is suffering. It’s not a great time for people in general, but we will keep trying to source things that you might like to buy and standing here being all knowledgeable about the goods we stock. Amazon can’t do that. Anyway, rant over. I’m just so proud of Frome and everyone here opening their doors every day. Ironically I also know that the only people that will see my post are followers who already support Figgins and probably all the other Frome businesses too. Thankyou champions! Well done Frome!

So to mark Thinking of You week we have made up 25 bags for Figgins giveaways. Each bag contains 5 free greetings cards and a little sweet treat and we will be giving them away over the next 3 days. If you buy some stuff from us don’t be surprised to find one of these little fellas tucked away in your bag as a nice surprise when you get home. We really hope you enjoy them 💛 The cards are random (as you would expect from us) and we have tried to pick non offensive ones so hopefully you will all love them!

It’s Thinking Of You week this week. This is a once a year special greetings cards event which celebrates making people feel warm and fuzzy by sending them a card. I have always believed that receiving a handwritten card, carefully chosen and thought about is just about the nicest thing you can receive in the post and with everything going on on the world it’s an easy way to cheer somebody up and to let them know they are loved. Receiving an unexpected card can really brighten up someone’s day. To celebrate this special week in my industry we will be giving some cards away later in the week and maybe some other bits too so keep a look out and have a great week!

For all you cuddly dinosaur collectors, we have a new dinosaur for you! Parasaurolophus 💚 This Cretaceous cutie is a brand new arrival and has joined his knitted little family on our shelves. He comes in toy or rattle form and don’t worry, he’s a herbivore. He will NOT eat you. Probably. 🦖🌿

You know when you can’t sleep, you toss and turn night after night and you don’t know why and then you realise that it’s because you don’t have any Care Bears in your shop? Is everyone familiar with that nightmare? Thought so. Anyway, I’ve rectified that now. Phew. Drama over.

I’m finally stocking one of my favourite brands 💚 Upcircle produce sustainable, vegan, cruelty free products that they make using upcycled and by product ingredients. They are absolutely fantastic and they work a treat! We love these 🌿
