๐This month we are encouraging a month of movement with the lead up to the upcoming 'I can move' Children's Cancer North event.
๐September is Childhood cancer awareness
month an international campaign to raise awareness and support for childrenโs and young peopleโs cancers.
๐Cancer is different in children and young people, so it needs a different and dedicated approach.
This month we partner with charities, funders and families affected by cancer to have the biggest possible impact.
๐Step by step, day by day, the work completed by these amazing organisations means. that more children and young people with cancer live better lives through more effective and less toxic treatments.
๐Follow our month of movement to raise awareness and encouraging everyone to move more, make healthy choices and donate if available to. We will be sharing ways you can show your support.
๐Day 1 starts with our Plank hold. 'Hands down' as we say in class... Try this and comment done when you've completed it. โ
๐Ease your way in
Remember to stretch before and after you plank and gradually build up how long you plank for throughout the month.
๐How to plank
-Push into your forearms and feet to push up into a straight line keeping your back flat.
-Hold the plank for around 1-2 minutes or whatever is suitable for you. Start with 10-30 seconds. And keep going!
-If you are new to planking you can amend your planks to keep your knees on the ground and hold it for less time.

Tummy time tips!
It can be quite daunting for a baby to be on their tummyโฆgive it a try, lie down next to your baby and put your face into the floor. This helps give some perspective of what they are feeling.
If your little one isnโt keen on tummy time try to do it often even just for a short time building up to something longer. Encourage them verbally telling them how well they are doing, stroke their back so they know you are there, or lie with them. Give them something exciting to play with or something sensory in front of them (think bright, shiny or with sounds) this will help to encourage them to look up and begin to develop strength in their head and neck. Before you know it they will be holding their own weight on their hands in a mini cobra pose ๐

Our classes are open to families that have spent time on either the Neonatal Unit (Ward 35) or Transitional Care at the RVI and we can't wait to see you there.

Clare (Soothing baby massage and children's yoga) who runs our Wellbeing for Mothers and Babies on a Monday at West Denton Community Centre in Newcastle as well as Baby Massage and Yoga classes on a Tuesday at the same location.
Christine (Kalma Life Gateshead runs Baby Yoga and Massage at the MetroCentre on a Tuesday
Lucy (The Baby Hub Gateshead) runs Music, Movement and Sensory on a Wednesday in Newcastle at Owl Tree Cafรฉ and on a Thursday at Raven Valley Gym in Gateshead
Jill and the Paddlepod team at Shiremoor (PaddlePod are the people behind our water confidence classes on a Wednesday
Emily (ARTventurers Newcastle and Gateshead runs one of our art and creative play classes at Great Park Community Centre in Newcastle
Nicola (ARTventurers South Shields, Jarrow and Hebburn) who is stepping in as maternity cover for Becky and we are confident that her art and creative play classes on a Friday at St Lukes Methodist Church hall in Hebburn are going to be just as wonderful

Babies and toddlers learn from example and our classes are the right place for you to spend quality time with your little ones and let them explore through our yoga classes ๐

Using our props to get in a spinal stretch, to help develop the skills of rolling, turning their heads, following with their eyes AND learning to reach! Phew! Itโs no wonder our baby yogis have such a good sleep after our classes!
