After our game last week was called off, we are buzzing to have one this weekend (weather permitting 🙏🏻).

We've got an away day to Dundee to play Bank Street Athletic in the Scottish Cup 🏆.

Boys have trained well this week and are looking forward to this one! Hats off to gaffer Thomas Quinn who passed his intensive bus driving exam this week so he can drive the lads to and from the game 👏🏻.

🚨 FINAL RESULT 🚨

Comfortable victory in the end on a horrid surface 🥶. We didn’t start the game well, and Weirs had a few decent attempts on goal (shoutout to safe hands Foster in goals 🧤). However, after that initial unsteady spell, we took control of the game and created a number of chances and deservedly 2-0 up at half time.

We controlled the second half adding another 4 goals to walk off with a comfortable 3 points. Defensively, we limited Weirs to a few half chances from range. Kudos to Weirs big centre half who smashed a 25 yard free kick into the top corner off the underside of the bar - cracking hit 👏🏻. Special mention to the super sub Panda who scored a cracking second half Hat-trick to put us out of sight🔥.

MOTM 🏆- James Miller. Was a constant threat down the left hand side for the 90 minutes. Plenty of tricks and flicks to open up their opposition defence and get balls into the box. Few lovely through balls to strikers too - all round good performance 👏🏻.

Cracking display across the park in a dominant victory over travelling Postal ALC in the Scottish Cup.

We started sharp and dominated the game, finding ourselves deservedly 5-0 up and cruising at half time. Credit to Postal who came out swinging in the second half and managed to pull a couple of goals back to make it 5-2. We used the squad well, making 5 changes in the second half and managed to push on and grab another 2 goals to put the game well and truly out of sight.

MOTM 🏆 - Fraser Grossart. There were a few contenders for MOTM with Jordan shaw getting a well-earned Hattrick, and a tireless performance from Derek Elder at RWB, however, big Gross sneaked it. Commanding performance at CB, won the majority of headers and got on the ball often, distributing it well and helping to start our attacks from the back 👏🏻.

The more said, the better - absolute clinic at Holm Park today by the boys…ball on the carpet and dominated the game from start to finish. Front to back, unreal performance and it was a great attitude shown by the boys after a few shaky performances in recent weeks.

Great result against a tricky Glasgow Island AFC side who’ve started very well this season. Played some
nice football in spells and found ourselves deservedly 3-1 up at half time. From there it was game management which we did very well, limiting GI to minimal chances on goal and finding the channels. We definitely left a few chances out there and, once again, credit it to the GI goalie who had a few cracking saves to keep GI in the game🧤 .

Gutted to have lost this game but credit to PSP who played nice football across the 90. The boys battled well in spells, pulling the game back to 4-3 with 5 to go and putting some pressure on in search of an equaliser. Ultimately, committed men forward and PSP sneaked a 5th goal to seal the 3 points.

No game tomorrow, but we will dust ourselves down and ready for a battle against Glasgow Island AFC next weekend 💪🏽.

Cracking display again from the lads - no complaints from the managers today! Slow start, and fell one behind early, but the boys rallied on to take a convincing victory over a very fit, disciplined Rosehill United side. Lots of great passing play on the deck today from back to front, which was a joy to see. We now look ahead to a tasty encounter with PSP on Wednesday night where we look to continue our unbeaten start to the season!

Our attention turns to cup duties this weekend, where we face a tough Rosehill United side who’ve made a strong start to the season. However, the boys are fired up and ready to go in our first defence of the GCFA Premier Cup that we won last season 💪🏽🏆.

It took a while for the lads to get going in this one and the first half could have gone either way with the chances created. Half time 1-0 up, rocket up the arse and a couple of substitutions to try and ensure the victory. The hairdryer treatment and changes paid off with us scoring a couple of goals early in the second half. Plenty of passing football and defending from the front ultimately led to us going on to score 7 goals in the second half to walk away with a convincing 8-0 victory. Manager held his hands up and admitted that making too many changes to the starting 11 at once contributed to the first half outcome.

MOTM 🏆- WILLIAM STALKER. Stalker came on at half time on the right wing and absolutely terrorised the opposition left back. Unplayable at times, and contributed to majority of goals in the second half 👏🏻.

Cracking result against the league champions. 1st half wasn’t the best, but the boys started to turn it on in the second half with some tidy passing football. Game management was excellent and it was great to cap it off with a clean sheet.

MOTM 🏆 - NEIL CONNELLY. Tremendous display at RWB by Neil who did absolutely everything asked of him in defence and attack. Topped off with a goal to make it 3-0 and put the game out of sight 👏🏻.

Huge game tomorrow against last years league winners… always a cracking battle when the sides meet.

The boys continued the unbeaten start with a 3-1 victory over local rivals Southside United AFC. 2-0 up at half time (and could have easily been more if it wasn’t for the Southside goalie 🧤!) and fairly comfortable, but Southside came out of the traps sharp in the second half and made it more difficult, pulling a goal back with 20/25 mins to go. We held on well and put the game to bed in the last minute with a well worked goal. With another game on Saturday morning, we were able to utilise our squad well across the 90 to ensure that we keep all legs as fresh as possible 🏃‍♂️.

MOTM 🏆- DARREN FELLOWS. A real toss up between Darren and left back Dec. Darren put in a really rounded performance with good distribution, communication, commanding his box and acting as a sweeper keeper preventing Southside getting in in goal a couple of times in the second half 👏🏻.

After a very slow start to the game, we walked off with very convincing victory in the league opener. Great football played over the 90 minutes, with 2 hat tricks across the front line 🔥 👏🏻. Great to get 6 goals and it could easily have been a few more on another day. Promising start to the season, and great squad performance with all subs getting good game time.

MOTM 🏆 - WILLIAM STALKER. A toss up between Jordan and William after a hattrick a piece, but William edged it over the piece. Great link up play throughout and topped off with a well-earned hat-trick.

Newlands AFC 5 - 2 Lomond FC

It was great to get our pre-season off to a winning start with a victory over an energetic Lomond side. We tried a new formation and had some new faces in the squad, and we can’t fault the boys for their effort across the 90 mins. Pitch wasn’t ideal, but we played some very tidy football in spells. The main thing was getting minutes in the legs ahead of the league season starting on 5th August, and the way we played and the result were a bonus.

MOTM 🏆 - Jordan Shaw. Complete engine up-front and caused the opposition defence problems throughout. Hat-trick for his efforts - well deserved ⚽️.
