L’Oume from Les Frères Soulier

The Soulier brothers look after ten hectares around the village of Saint Hilaire d’Ozilhan, just west of Avignon on the Rhône. The vines, some of which are up to 80 years old pull from the sand, clay and limestone soil which is ploughed only by horse. The brothers use a very old wooden basket press and don’t top up the old barrels to allow for a flor to develop and to retain their signature freshness.
No sulphur dioxide in the cellar when the vintage allows.

This is a wine of thirst but there is a delicate power to it. Easy to drink but when it hits the palate it pulls you in and invites you to pay it the attention it deserves. We like it a touch chilled when the sun is out.

👃 cranberry-ish, a waft of liquorice, fresh spring
👄 Rosehip, pomegranate, unripe cherry, overripe strawberry, lively acidity and limey minerality.

Thursday 11th July
7pm till 9pm

We're proud to have imported Vanessa Letort's wines via since early 2021 and are so excited to finally welcome her to Scotland for the first time.

Originally from Brittany, Vanessa relocated to Alsace where she co-founded Les Vins Pirouettes alongside Christian Binner. After six years of enriching experience, Vanessa was ready for her next venture.

She founded Du Vin aux Liens in 2019, a collective of organic and biodynamic winegrowers from Alsace and the Loire Valley. Vanessa not only collaborates with them but also crafts her own cuvées - bottles that you all immediately loved.

Additionally, she acquired vineyards in Lorraine where we look forward to receiving the first bottles in the UK.

Ampeleia Wine Tasting

Join us for an exceptional evening with Francesco Pascucci from Ampeleia winery in Tuscany.

Wednesday 19th June
7pm 'til 9pm

£45 per person

Francesco Pascucci has been Ampeleia’s messenger for a few years now. Sharing the philosophy of their natural wine, healthy agriculture, and quality practices to people around the world.

The Ampeleia estate began life in the 1960s when abandoned land was bought by a Swiss couple, Erica and Peter Max Suter. Turning it into an agricultural estate, the couple bred sheep and pigeons and planted the first vines, including the introduction of Cabernet Franc and Merlot in the area.

In 2002 the estate was taken over by Elisabetta Foradori, Thomas Widmann and Giovanni Podini, who wanted to demonstrate the diversity and potential of Maremma. In 2009 the team began converting their largest area of land from organic to biodynamic farming and have been gradually extending that practice to the rest of their estate.

Owning 120 hectares of land, only 35 hectares are currently under vine. This land is spread over 3 distinct altitudes, each with different soils and used to grow different grape varieties, reflecting the local tradition of planting multiple varieties in each plot.

Don't miss this fantastic night where Francesco will present six exceptional wines and share stories from this unique winery.

Exceptional wine tasting event with winemaker Janire Moraza from Bodegas Moraza, Rioja Alta.

Wednesday 29th May

7pm till 9pm

£45 per person

The Moraza family has been dedicated to winemaking in Rioja Alta for over six generations. Committed to sustainable practices, Janire Moraza transitioned their 18 hectares of vineyards to organic farming, promoting biodiversity and a healthy ecosystem.

Located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, the vineyards benefit from an ideal location at the foot of mountains, with elevations ranging from 450 to 650 meters. The calcareous clay soil is naturally fertile and free from harmful chemicals.

Built in 1983, the winery utilises concrete tanks and relies on natural processes whenever possible. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts takes place in these tanks, and gravity-bottling ensures minimal intervention.

Bodegas Moraza offers a distinct approach compared to many modern wineries that emphasise oak-aged characteristics. Their focus remains on crafting unique and authentic Riojas in the traditional style. This natural approach results in wines that faithfully express the character of the grapes and the terroir.

Don't miss this unique wine tasting! This is your chance to discover the fantastic wines of Bodegas Moraza while meeting the passionate winemaker herself.

As usual, we'll be offering some snacks to keep you going.

Next Event!

Seven Crofts Gin Bar Takeover

We're excited to announce our next event with Scott Kirk of Highland Liquor Co. who will be showcasing cocktails featuring Seven Crofts Gin from Ullapool.

The Highland Liquor Co. has grown from the village of Ullapool just as the village grew from the 1788 fishing station planned on the shores of Loch Broom. The original settlement, on Scotland’s West Highland coast, included a boat builder, a rope maker, a cooper, a blacksmith, a fish curer and a mason.

Several of these crafts survive to this day and have been joined by many new makers including The Highland Liquor Co. Back in 1791, the original settlers in the first seven dwellings sought to establish the village by generating growth and this drive continues in the community today. In the spirit of these original settlers, the Highland Liquor Co. are the creators of exceptional handmade spirits in the North West Highlands.

For the occasion Scott has designed three exquisite cocktails featuring their flagship gin, Seven Crofts

We are now stocking Sentia Red. An alcohol-free spirit for those who are looking for a relaxing drink without the booze. It drinks a lot like a vermouth and goes very well with tonic over ice. Made from a unique blend of botanicals that are designed to produce some of the desired effects of alcohol, a bit like that second glass sweet spot. It is now available on the bar and by the bottle to take away and enjoy at home.

Cod brandade and tapenade on rye, finished with preserved lemon and dill. 🌱 More spring freshness making its way onto the menu soon. ⛅️

“La Compagnon” - Domaine Ledogar
🌲
Situated amongst the pine forests of Ferrals-les-Corbières, Languedoc, Xavier Ledogar has been tending to the families 60-120 year old vines since he was 12 years old.
🌝
The vines have been worked biodynamically since 2004, choosing herbal teas and plant fertilisers over industrial chemical inputs. Machinery has been ditched for horse and cart, whilst donkeys eat the array of wild plants that are left to grow between the vines. This allows for natural fertilisation of the clay and limestone soil and helps maintain the delicate balance of biodiversity.
🌱
La Compagnon is a deep, rustic red made with Syrah, a little Grenache and Carignan. No sulphur is added while the wine is being raised which makes for an expressive, vibrant alive wine.
👃
Blackcurrant, cherry, black olive, pumpkin, liquorice, horse stable.
👄
Black forest gateaux, blackberry cassis, blackcurrant, dark cherry. Mouth watering acidity that dances with life on the tongue and sits wonderfully with the delicate clayey tannins. Loooong and cosy. A warm hug of a wine.

Are you oyster lovers like us? 🦪😍

Mark your calendars for November 29th because Oyster Week is on🥳, and we're excited to introduce you to the incredible oysters from Cape Wrath, Scotland!🌊

Patrick and Lucy Blow, the founders of Cape Wrath Oysters, started their oyster farm in 2014 in a remote spot called Kyle of Durness on Scotland's northwestern coast.👏
One of their main goals is sustainability, they wanted to create an eco-friendly farming business in their home country.
They chose this site for its good water quality, extremely low risk of pollution, strong currents and excellent water exchange, bringing abundant fresh algae and oxygen to feed the oysters with the tides, bringing distinctive characteristics and sweet, briny flavour.😋

Patrick and Lucy also work on a small piece of land near Inverness, where they're growing woodlands and increasing biodiversity.👍🏼

Keep your eyes peeled and prepare yourself for their arrival day! Because when they're gone, they're gone!😁

🎉 Beaujolais Nouveau Day has arrived! 🎉

Yes, it's the third Thursday in November already and this year we have 3 Nouveau wines for you to try.

We have the ever popular "bagnums" from Emma and Andrew Nielsen at Du Grappin. Du Grappin wines are a natural off-shoot from the more serious Le Grappin range they do; vins de soif, made to be delicious, fun and refreshing. They source their grapes from the passionate and revolutionary growers in the under-rated Mâconnais, Beaujolais and Rhône regions. They make them by hand in their ancient cuverie in the walls of Beaune, with as much care and attention as with our Le Grappin wines. They flew out the door last year so be quick!

We also have 2 wines from one of Beaujolais' rising stars, Sylvère Trichard at Domaine Séléné. Despite a very tricky vintage - losing two-thirds to black rot & mildew, and harvesting in 40-degree heat - 2023 is a year of real focus and refinement for Sylvère. We have both his Domaine Primeur and his Négoce Primeur where he has purchased the organically farmed fruit from his neighbours.

All are available now but stocks are very limited so be quick. We'll also be pouring the wines over the weekend if you'd just like a glass or two!

📢 Get ready for the Festive Vibes!

On Wednesday 15th November,  Pollokshields area will be covered with its Christmas lights.💫

For the occasion, our doors will be open from 5pm till 10pm and we're excited to see our favourite French cheesemonger, Cédric , back for the occasion.🧀

He'll be presenting the finest selection of cheeses for you to savour and purchase, making it the perfect opportunity to pre-order your Christmas cheese.😋

And that's not all—starting from November 15th, we're extending our hours for the festive season.🎉

🗓 Wed - Thu: 5pm till 10pm
🗓 Fri - Sat: 3pm till 11pm
🗓 Sun: 12pm till 9pm

JUST ARRIVED!

Nadja Peltzer, a German native, found her passion for wine as a hobby while working in an Austrian winery. Her life took a new turn when she met Andrej in a top wine bar in Copenhagen and fell in love with both the man and Slovakia. This marked the beginning of NABOSO's journey .

Andrej Mikulšičàk has spent more than a decade refining his winemaking skills, quietly accumulating valuable experiences. With an exceptional palate, relentless passion for acquiring knowledge, and a perpetual smile, his love for wine shines through. Together, they blend their unique knowledge and experiences to craft the best wine possible.

Their philosophy is quite simple. They make natural wine, but in the end they want to make good wine. The wine has to be stable, without faults, drinkable, and enjoyable.

Located in the picturesque village of Svaty Jür, just 20 min away from Bratislava on the train, very close to the more prominent Burgenland region in Austria. Despite the geographical proximity, the vineyards are located along the contrasting Carpathian Hills, lying on a bedrock of granite with rich, sandy soils, with all vineyards facing south to south east, and right now they've around 5ha.

It has now been more than two years since we began to take an interest in their work. Thank you again for your warm welcome at the wine fair last spring, just so many beautiful memories!

We'd like to give special recognition to Dorthe Kalhøj Sønderholm for her stunning artwork.
