Mini First Aid Glasgow are delighted to be coming back to Baby Sensory & Toddler sense Glasgow North Business Centre G34 9 HJ delivering our award winning Baby & Child first aid classes. Our 2 hour class covers baby and child CPR, burns, bleeding, choking, febrile seizures, meningitis & sepsis awareness, head bumps and breaks. A must for any parent to be, parents, grandparents, aunties & uncles etc. Our relaxed and informal class is suitable for everyone regardless of your existing first aid knowledge. Hi there,
Children’s Activities Association are holding a networking event.
The Scottish 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 for all children’s activity providers (catering for all activities sports, drama, sensory, music etc babies or children)
This will take place on the Thursday 9th of May in Glasgow - it is a great chance to network with your fellow activity providers over some drinks and nibbles.
I am co-hosting the event with Vincent Ferguson an Inclusion Consultant and we hope to give you lots of information about CAA, plus support around inclusion in your classes and the opportunity to network, we would love to see you there.

Late Spring Term Dates

🗓️ W/C 15th April - 21st June
9️⃣ 10 weeks (you may also choose to pay in 2 x 5 week blocks)
👛 Classes are £8.50 usually but £8 if you book a 10 week block before the term starts.
Each class lasts 1hr and every single week the content will be unique and different.

Our spring term has begun and we have lots of new babies and grown ups joining us 🤗
So I thought I would introduce myself

My name is Lian and I am the class leader at Baby Sensory Glasgow North West
I come from a childcare background working as a nursery teacher and have been working in Baby Sensory since September last year 🤗

I absolutely adore my job, getting to see all your babies develop grow and learn is just amazing

We have so many fabulous classes coming over the next few weeks including World Book day, St Patrick’s day and Mother’s Day
I can’t wait to see you all there, and if you haven’t booked up we still have some space so come join in the fun 🤗

Hello March, we are very glad to see you!

Spring is coming!! You can actually see it with snowdrops and daffodils appearing, you can hear it when the birds sing as the mornings and evenings get lighter, soon we will be able to touch and smell the new grass as it grows (then unfortunately needs cut!) and best of all we can taste it! Hot cross buns & chocolate are almost here!!

We have our own special Spring plans too with our big exciting move to our very own bespoke permanent rooms where you and your little ones can discover more Baby Sensory delights and then move into the big world of Toddler Sense right next door!!

Rolling into Milestones!

Did you know that rolling is a crucial step in your baby's development? It strengthens their muscles, improves coordination, and sets the stage for crawling and exploring the world around them. 🌍💪

Here are a few top tips for rolling:

👶Aim for rolling both ways; if they've mastered one side, keep practising the other.
👶If your baby dislikes tummy time, try introducing it through a gentle roll – they might think they did it themselves and enjoy it longer.
👶Encourage visual tracking to one side and slightly back.
👶Many babies initially get their arm stuck – help them shift their weight to learn how to release it.

Can you cuddle your baby too much?

Absolutely not!

Close, loving, physical contact is the most important and immediate thing that parents can do to relieve stress and improve their baby’s wellbeing.

All babies thrive on being cuddled and held close. The warmth of a mother's skin, her loving touch, the sound of her voice, and her heartbeat mirror the familiar conditions of the womb and offer the baby comfort and security.

A very lovely mummy who unfortunately is unwell currently has gifted her class on Tuesday 20th Feb at 11.30am.

Let’s talk oxytocin, also known as the cuddle, love or bonding hormone

❤️ close physical contact stimulates the production of oxytocin, when touched the skin produces a constant, elevated level of oxytocin in a baby and parent

❤️ oxytocin release is especially pronounced with skin-to-skin contact

❤️ oxytocin orchestrates attachment to a soft toy or special blanket since its associated with comfort, safety and security

❤️ oxytocin is released into the bloodstream whilst holding, stroking, cuddling or patting an animal in the same way as cuddling a familiar adult does

❤️ oxytocin is bloomin’ fabulous!

Our babies from our Tuesday birth to 6 month class enjoying some tummy time 🤗

Some benefits from tummy time include
💚 strengthening back, shoulder and neck muscles
💛 helps to lay the foundation for gross motor skills such as crawling, rolling and sitting
💚 improves babies ability to control and move their muscles to complete various activity’s

Looking after a baby or toddler, being constantly on call and coping with the daily demands of life is not easy. 🤯

Here a few tips from our Founder & leading parenting expert Dr Lin Day to help you cope:

☀️ Get outside as often as you are able to. Sunlight promotes the release of seratonin which increases the feeling of happiness & wellbeing.

🍲 Try to eat a healthy diet with a range of different foods. Over consumption of carbohydrates and sweet foods can lead to feelings of fatigue.

💧Keep yourself hydrated by drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day (keep a refillable water bottle near by if that makes things easier whilst feeding or playing with your baby).

🚶‍♂️Try some light to moderate exercise - whether that's simply walking (combine it with getting outdoors), going to the gym or getting back into another sport, any type of exercise is great for the production of those mood-boosting endorphins!

🤗 Meeting up with other parents and their babies. Social support often really helps your mood and provides you with a time to seek reassurance and advice from other parents (or vice versa!)

Just a little introduction my name is Lian and I am the class leader at Baby Sensory Glasgow North West you can find me in the Scout Hall on Kelbourne Street

I started coming to baby sensory last year with my niece and fell in love with the classes and enjoyed how the activity’s changed each week. When the opportunity came up to be a class leader I jumped at the chance.

I come from a childcare back ground working as a nursery teacher and a playroom leader for my many years. (Working with babies was always my favourite 🤗)

I am looking forward to seeing you all and meeting all our new baby’s this week!
