If you see Major Iain while on your travels through Glasgow International Airport, give him a wave and say hi!
It's great to see this ministry flourishing.
Our chaplaincy work at is going from strength to strength with the appointment of a new full-time chaplain. Major Iain Hudson will offer support to any of the 30,000 passengers who pass through the airport on an average day.
The Salvation Army chaplaincy team (pictured) includes volunteers Marianne Harvey and Dawn Foxley - and together their mission is "to be there for anyone who needs our service, irrespective of denomination, faith or creed".

Yesterday we learned about Dietrich Bonhoeffer who stood in the face of Na**sm and ultimately lost his life as a result. He saw what was happening and knew it was wrong. He refused to join the state church, set up to support the N**i Party's aims and worked with the resistance in plotting against Hi**er.
He lived a courageous life and was writing right up until his murder because of his actions against the state.
We have talked about the injustices happening in our communities today and how The Salvation Army and the wider Christian church has a long history of standing against injustices. We explored the I'll fight speech in todays context.
The headers from todays sermon were
Doing, Daring, Defying, Dying
We were challenged to live a life as courageous and influential as Bonhoeffer while living our our call to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with our God.
This evening members of Parkhead Salvation Army were in attendance at the Central & Southern Scotland Division welcome to new officers who have been appointed within our division.
This included 2 familiar faces as Iain and Alison were welcomed and Alison was installed into her Divisional role.
It was a great evening of worship with others from all across the division, the hall was packed with standing room only and people even in the hallway.
We prayed for God to build His kingdom here and to revive His church. To bring forth workers for the harvest, leaders for our people and to provide for and support Corps without officers.
This Sunday Captain Amy-Jo is back and leading us in worship and sharing the word. Everyone is welcome to our service which starts at 10:30am at The Salvation Army on Tollcross Road.
Tonight, 14 people from our Corps completed level 1 food hygiene training together. For some this was new training, enabling them to support in the kitchen, providing refreshments and meals and for others this was a Refresher training.
We love that we are able to eat together and share food and refreshments safely. It wouldn't be possible without these amazing people giving up time to come and learn together.
Thank you to Debbie who came to deliver the training in person making it fun, interactive and accessible.
Our care and Share shop on Tollcross road is a great place to find a bargain.

Over the course of this week, our children and young people are returning to school. Some to new schools, others to familiar places. This can be a time of excitement and anxiety. New routines to get used to and new teachers to get to know. But also new friends, new subjects to learn and hopefully new and exciting adventures.
We are praying for you this week, just as we did in church on Sunday.
Last night, prayer warriors from churches from across East Glasgow gathered to pray at Parkhead Salvation Army for peace in our communities. For unity and for safety on the streets.
Messages of hope and peace were left which can be read outside the church by anyone passing by as a reminder that they are not alone.
It was a spirit filled time of prayer.
Yesterday in our worship we continued to learn about heroes of faith and this week about the heroic and courageous actions of Harriet Tubman, who having fled slavery in the south of the USA, returned no less than 19 times to bring over 300 more people to freedom. During the civil war she was able to guide the army of the north onto confederate positions, once rescuing a further 700 more people held in slavery and bringing them to safety.
We considered the kind of courage that was required for her to be able to go back each time, being hunted and chased by slave catchers, their dogs and the threat of the brutality and death facing her if she was caught. She was an incredible woman of God who worshipped, prayed and felt God was guiding her each time she returned.
We were challenged to not sit comfortably in the knowledge of our own salvation, but remember to keep going back and bring others on the journey with us. We were also challenged to stand up for what is right, in the face of threats of violence and oppression. This rang especially true this week when members of our community are feeling scared because of violence and riots on the streets of the UK. The Kingdom of God is for the whosoever, we have to stand in the face of oppression, with the courage of Harriet and work to be peacemakers.
Tonight we enjoyed an international food night together with a 'get to know you' evening to learn more about Captain Amy-Jo.
It was a great night with great food and fellowship. We look forward to our service tomorrow morning at 10:30.

The Salvation Army is extremely concerned about those who are currently experiencing fear and intimidation. We stand together to call for peace and unity. We are committed to building strong, healthy communities where everyone can live in safety.
Please join us in praying for peace:
Gracious God
In these days of unrest and fear we turn to you, the Prince of Peace.
Comfort those who have been bereaved, give wisdom to those in leadership and grant that we may have courage to stand together in unity against violence and hatred.
Make us channels of your peace in our communities, a place of safety in our towns and cities and a voice for justice in our world
In the name of Jesus we ask it
Amen
Today is exam results day for lots of young people across our communities.
We are holding you in prayer today. Remember that the results only offer a very small snapshot of who you are and what you are capable of. There is so much more to you than what you find in your results today.
Whatever the outcome, you are fearfully and wonderfully made by God, who loves you deeply. He will set a path for you and guide the way.
In our worship yesterday we learned together about the life of Corrie Ten Boom, a hero of faith who lived out what it means to suffer and serve like Jesus.
We first watched a testimony of forgiveness by Bryan Welch and then learned how Corrie was able to forgive the N**i guard who had treated her sister Betsie so poorly after they were imprisoned for helping oppressed peoples in occupied Netherlands.
Our challenge for this week was to bring to God those people and situations which have caused us such hurt, and pray that with the help of the Holy Spirit, we are able to forgive others as we remember our prayer: 'Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.'
A reminder about Youth Fellowship tonight! ๐
