I just found out last Friday, that all my sites were all compromised on the HostGator server, not from my end but theirs and that been the case for over one month the PHP had been altered on their server as they failed to auto-renew my SSL certificate (secure site padlock) one month ago. If anyone is with HostGator or their sister company Bluehost, I would run a scan on your site as they failed to spot the problem I only knew due to a prospective client telling me my site was blocked. The IT support has been transposed from America to India and since then the service has been grossly incompetent and online ratings are 2 stars so I will be jumping ship ASAP. Use a site like scam advisor or the equivalent to check if your site is wide open to hackers as mine was, luckily I can restore my site and have 2 factor auth. so no real damage was done apart from my sites being blocked by some internet providers which is not good but I can fix that in a week.
