Connoisseur clubbing for the discerning lovers of Vintage Disco, Funk & Soul
Hidden away in the back lanes of Glasgow, there's a mirror ball that never stops turning. Five nights a week The Buff Club opens it's doors to bohemian students, trendy mature clubbers and to those who are looking for a night with substance. 17 years later the Buff Club remains true to it's roots bringing you the very best in funk, soul and good times… if the flocked walls could talk they would ha
As some of you may have noticed, a few of our overs events don’t have specific themes… this is because they are our classic overs events and they don’t need a theme!🎶
These nights aim to capture everything that buff is and has been over the years that you all would’ve been coming. This means anything related to disco, funk, soul and dance music🕺💃
It aims to remind you of younger years while also being a comfortable space to come and have a proper boogie with likeminded people🥳
To quote our mission policy, the love of good music remains throughout - come and enjoy it with us🫶
Here’s our top 5 Donna Summer tunes…
A true icon of music, so it was incredibly difficult to get it down to only five but this is what we’ve settled on👀
Let us know your thoughts through the poll in the comments and come celebrate her legacy with us on the 26th of July - tickets available through our eventbrite🔗
In 1977 David Bowie and Brian Eno are busy making “Heroes” in Berlin, when one day Eno burst in with a new 7” record and exclaims to Bowie “This single is going to change the sound of club music for the next 15 years.” He wasn’t entirely wrong about Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love”, but you would have to delete the word “club” and change “the next 15 years” to forever.
Donna Summer was already an intercontinental disco diva, but this song, off her album “I Remember Yesterday” would not only send the singer’s career into the stratosphere, but also alter the history of music🎶
The album is a concept album with each track representing a different era. Producers/co-writers Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte decided that the final track on the album should be an attempt to predict the musical future. They could not have been more right.
Reaching No. 1 in several countries, including the UK, the song laid a path for synth pop, house, electro, techno, trance, and more whilst also influencing generations of pop, rock and dance artists. Then unknown but destined to be synth pop stars in the 80s The Human League completely switched their direction after hearing the song. Blondie, although punk associated at the time, embraced the electro-disco template, and released “Heart of Glass” the year after - sending their stock sky-high📈
In 2003 Fatboy Slim told Greg Wilson’s electrofunkroots, “’I Feel Love’ was the first disco record I allowed myself to like, and obviously, that was a sort of pivotal thing because it was almost the first prototype house record.” Skip forward to present day, in 2022 Rolling Stone had it top of the pile of their best ever dance songs and Beyoncé closed her album “Renaissance” with the homage “Summer Renaissance”.
Over 45 years since it was released, the tune continues to be influential across many genres. Summer meanwhile, continued to make tune after tune and became a true icon of music and it’s only right we celebrate her in our legends series on the 26th of July. Discounted early bird tickets available through the link in our bio!🔗🥳
If you do anything with your next 5 minutes 55 seconds, spend it listening to one of the best songs ever.
One thing we consistently notice at our Overs parties is how much you all love our balcony, and specifically the booths🤩
This is why we’ve added booth tickets that offer tickets for 6 people as well as the reservation of one of these balcony booths🫶

Get ready for some Hot Stuff this summer! For July’s edition of the Legends Series, we’re talking ‘bout Donna Summer & the Bad Girls! 🔥
The Queen of Disco and arguably the most played artist throughout Buff’s history, Donna Summer has produced some of the biggest dance tracks of all time and her music has shaped dance floors and nightlife for almost 50 years 🪩
One of her biggest hits “I Feel Love” bridged disco sensuality and the synthesizer revolution to create a certified club classic and helped lay the foundation for synth pop, New Romantics, Italo disco, Hi-NRG, electro, house, techno, and more, influencing generations of pop, rock, and dance artists along the way 🎶
Alongside our celebration of Summer’s incredible catalogue of music, we’ll be playing out our favourite Disco Divas to make this a real celebration of the Bad Girls! Aretha, Diana, Anita, Candi, Evelyn, Gloria, Melba, Vicki, Martha, Thelma & so many more, our DJ’s will be going hit for hit all night long 💿
Dress to sparkle and head down to Buff, it’s time to get your Hot Stuff! ❤️🔥

What are our Buff Club Overs all about?
Think back to a time when people weren’t afraid to let loose and actually dance…
When people went clubbing to enjoy the music they love, but also to discover new music that they would love…
When balconies were packed, looking at the full dance floor down below…
When there was no sight of a phone on the dance floor and everyone was living and enjoying the moment…
Well that’s exactly what we’ve tried to bring back and for the past year or so we believe we’ve done a pretty good job!
A night specifically targeted at the over 30s audience - but open to everyone - that is open pre-club (7-11) so that you’re still able to get the last train/bus home and be in bed at a sensible hour😴
We have a bunch of events planned and the next one is on July 27th so get the date in your calendar and come down for a proper boogie🥳
To anyone who has attended one of these events before, thank you for your continued support, and to the younger generation, come see how parties are meant to be done😉 (only kidding, we love you too)
Hopefully see you soon!

It’s been a whole year since we first launched the Overs in Buff and since then we’ve seen it grow from strength to strength, with the demand and popularity for the early start and up-the-road for 11 nights spreading throughout the city and encouraging clubbers of all ages to get back to the dance floor for a boogie as though they’d never left! 🕺🏾💃
In a time where nightlife across the board has faced difficulties, it’s been truly inspiring to see so many of you make your way down the lane to light up the dance floor and share a good time with us under the disco ball. A phone-less dance floor and lack of pretentiousness among the dancers, combined with the best club music we have to offer has created a special atmosphere that can’t be put into words and can really only be experienced out there on the dance floor 🪩
