Dear Cemetery visitor,
The Council has seen a significant increase of memorabilia placed on the grassed areas of the lawn sections in the Cemetery, which is a breach of the rules and regulations;
This impedes on the grass cutting and strimming operations and impacts on the overall appearance of the Cemetery. Therefore can all visitors to these areas, please refrain from placing items on the grassed area and adhere to the regulations and only place items on the memorial base or concrete plinth.
We thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
The next GOOLE - Carboot is on Sunday 14th July ππππ
"Let us remember those who gave their lives at home and abroad during the D-Day landings, whose sacrifice enables us all to enjoy the peace and freedom we have today.
Let us remember those who came home wounded, physically and mentally, and the friends and family who cared for them.
Let us remember those who returned to restore their relationships and rebuild their working lives after years of conflict and turmoil.
Let us remember the families that lost husbands, wives, sons, daughters and sweethearts.
Let us remember the servicemen and women and merchant seafarers of all faiths and nationalities - from all countries - who fought, suffered and died during the D-Day landings and six years of war.
Let us all remember those in the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force, Merchant Navy, and our Allies - the brave people who kept us safe on the home front and abroad and those in reserved occupations during the difficult time of war.
Let us remember the brave doctors and nurses who cared for the wounded, the men and women who toiled in the fields, the coal mines, the factories and the air raid wardens, police officers, firemen, ambulance drivers and the young people of the Scouts and Guides who all played such a vital role in the war."
As the world marks the historic milestone of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the town of Goole today paid homage to the courage and resilience of those who participated in one of the most pivotal moments of World War II. Led by the Royal British Legion, Goole Branch; Vicar Hannah Patton, St John's Parish Church; and the Mayor of Goole, Cllr Anthony Raspin; over one hundred members of our community came together today in remembrance and reflection to commemorate those brave soldiers who stormed the beaches of Normandy in 1944, and all of those who played their part and were affected by the war.
The words above are from The International Tribute delivered today by the Mayor of Goole - words spoken across nations as we all pay tribute to those who gave their efforts to replace tyranny with freedom. We are eternally in their debt.
All Allotments are now taken. Thankyou to those who shared π
