Christmas Services 2023.

On behalf of everyone at Howden Church of England Infant School and Howden Junior School, we would like to thank those members of our school communities who were able to join us for the Christmas Services over the past few days.

It was incredible to see Howden Minster so full on both days - as we came together to celebrate the festive period.

A huge thank you to Miss Green (HJS) and Mrs Hunt (HIS) for organising the services - and to all of the team for their support.

Have a wonderful Christmas.

Year 5 Residential 2023:

Well, what can we say... WHAT AN INCREDIBLE RESIDENTIAL!

From the highs of the zip wire to the lows of the underground labyrinth, your children have done themselves (and Team HJS) proud - leaving all the adults in awe of their attitude, courage and behaviour, as they tackled each task.

A big HJS thank you to all of the adults that made the Year 5 residential possible this year, as there is so much behind the scenes that goes into making these experiences so memorable for all involved.

Here are some of our favourite moments.

Have a great weekend (and hopefully some rest).

Year 6 Residential 2023:

After three days away, our Year 6 children have returned home from what has proved to be a rather wet and windy residential to Boggle Hole, Whitby.

We know they will have their own stories to tell but, on behalf of all the team who made the residential possible, a big well done on a wonderful three days.

I am sure I echo parents/carers when I say a big thank you to Miss Starkey, Miss Greenhalgh, Mrs Stanley, Mrs Dyson and Mrs Collins for organising the trip and making sure everyone returned safe and well (albeit a little tired).

As always, thank you for your support.

A big thank you to our incredible Kitchen Team who, alongside some help from Snaith Secondary and South Hunsley Secondary, were able to make over 400 sandwiches in next to no time - keeping all the children fed.

Harvest Festival 2023 at Howden Minster

Yesterday, for the first time, we were able to bring the children together across our two schools as we celebrated Harvest Festival.

Thank you to all those who supported with their kind donations.

As we come together more frequently over the year, we will look at ways in which we can bring our wider school community and parents into such celebrations.

As always, thank you for your support.

Have you seen the new Blue Peter book badge designed by Quentin yet?

Celebrating International Literacy Day on 8 September 2023, Blue Peter unveiled a new Book badge.
The Blue Peter Book badge will be awarded to children aged 5-15 who send in their thoughts on a book, draw a character or scene and share which other books and writers they love.  The Blue Peter Book Club has come up with a selection of six 'recommended reads' to inspire young readers.

Head to to find out more!
