Well done to those who collected their awards on Friday.

As the Officer Commanding 2357 Sqn, I get to see the finest young people in the Goole and surrounding area. From Snaith, Carlton, Howden and Goole (as well as many villages), I see the enthusiasm, the drive and the efforts they give on our cadet nights and on our weekend activities. This weekend I get to see something even more amazing.
Remembrance Day is always a special time nationally as we remember those that fell in the service of their nation as well as those that served; and in Goole the cadets showed their sense of respect and duty as they marched with serving personnel and veterans.
We also had cadets at Pollington, acting as a guard of honour and then attending the remembrance service at the memorial for RAF Snaith. The cadets were a credit to the town of Goole, the RAF Air Cadets and their families.

Congratulations to Acting Pilot Officer David Billany following his passing of the Regional Commissioning Board.
On Friday, we say farewell to Cdt FS Calpin. He joined us 5 years ago and it is fair to say he fitted in a lot in his 5 years despite the impact of the national lockdowns.
Cdt FS Calpin has been an integral part of the squadron, and we are sad to see him leave as he moves forward towards his goal of achieving his licence to fly passenger aircraft.
He was sent off with a certificate of appreciation, a 2357 mug and other farewell items. Sqn Ldr Owen was on hand to bid farewell to FS Calpin, with speeches made and, a massive applause from the sqn saying au revoir to a fantastic young man.
Yesterday (Saturday 14th ) staff and cadets went out on a pre Duke of Edinburgh walk, testing the cadets on there map reading skills,
The cadets did brilliantly and at the end of the month will be doing a 2 day walk with a camp over night which if successful will gain them their bronze award
Not one of our usual posts about the cadet experience but Phyllis ‘Pippa’ Latour, the last Special Operations Executive agent, has died aged 102. She left South Africa to join the British WAAF in 1941. Phyllis parachuted to Normandy in 1944. She sent 135 coded messages to help target bombing missions.
We often remember the brave aircrew of WW2 but women such as these played such an instrumental role in ridding Europe of the evil of fascism.
2357 Squadron will be stood down tonight for anyone not joining us on our off site event.
On Wednesday evening Goole sqn hosted an open evening to show potential new recruits what the RAFAC is and what we can achieve. The turnout was a lot better than we expected with a total of 21 new Cadets possibly joining the Squadron.
For all the new Cadets, welcome to Team 2357!
Our Open Night for new cadets is this Wednesday at 7.30pm. Recruiting now!!!
Are you aged 12 or above and in year 8 or higher? What did you do last weekend?

We will provide the very best support we can to his family and the volunteers & cadets at his ATC Squadron
