It's sad when women come into Elm who have been told by another clinic that treatments costing thousands can achieve incredible results 😪.

It happened here: this lady was our consistent client for years and was sold a dream that didn't achieve anything by another practitioner.

We explain to all of our clients that anti-wrinkle treatment doesn't erase every line, otherwise we would be able to have treatment for the first time in our 50's and all our lines would disappear!

The client pictured has a realistic approach to her forehead lines. She is on a skincare regime and is aware that she will need consistent anti-wrinkle treatments to make her forehead smooth.

What does Sam really think about the lash growth serum? 👀

I've worn fake lashes in the past, but I never liked how they look heavy on your eyes and can make your eyes look smaller. I've even tried LVL, but to be honest, I don't have the patience for long appointments. Both options were also expensive - when you worked out the cost for a year.

When Sarda told me about the lash growth serum, I thought it was a gimmick, I honestly wasn't interested. Until I started looking at ways to make the eyes look more youthful.

I started the serum with low expectations. However, I was blown away with the results. It's one appointment in clinic and then you apply the lash serum at home, on an evening, which takes 30 seconds.

🚨 Holiday Alert

Fan lady is back!

Who is fan lady? She became our client in 2021 when she first booked in for lip filler and turned up with a giant plug-in fan.

The fan helps with her needle phobia as it cools her down and she finds the white noise comforting.

Her well-being ahead, during and after her appointment is so important to us, and we were thrilled to see her fan again today!

This image shows you just how vital good sun protection is.

The woman in the picture is 92 years old and had used an SPF on her face for over 42 years but had never applied it to her neck.

You can see the difference in the quality of skin from her face to her neck and this, simply put, is down to sun exposure. UVA rays are radiation and as such pass through clouds and windows and denature your skin. This leads to deep wrinkles, solar lentigines (significant hyperpigmentation), elastosis (crepey skin) and in some cases skin cancer.

We urge you to take a moment to think about where you currently apply your SPF and where you need to be applying it from now.

If you don't already know, skincare products are sensitive to light, humidity, and heat.

Therefore, the bathroom windowsill is one of the worst places to store them.

You should also check the packaging of each skincare product to ensure you are storing them correctly 😊

Jo was a late-starter to aesthetics and medical skincare. She only started a few years ago, so when we get asked 'I'm 50 is it too late to star?' We think of Jo.

In a medical journal dated 2019 the findings of a survey was conducted, around the reasons why women wear makeup.

2, 200 women took part and 63% of those women said that they wore makeup to hide blemishes.

Medical News Today (online-2024) wrote that blemishes can include acne, blackheads, whiteheads, papules, pustules,
nodules, hyperpigmentation, sunspots and melasma.

In our clinic we see a lot of women who want to improve hyperpigmentation, sunspots, and melasma.

An option to treat this is a prescription medication called Tretinoin. It's a cream that is applied on an evening which contains vitamin A.

It works by encouraging rapid epidermal turnover, meaning skin releases dead cells faster than it otherwise would, to reveal a fresh, glowing complexion.

You can also see an improvement in the appearance of photoaged skin, such as fine lines, wrinkles and uneven skin texture.

However, before you consider coming in for a consultation or adding Tretinoin to your skincare routine, it is vital that you do not use sunbeds and you protect your skin every day with an SPF 50 🙂

Well, this post isn't actually about a headband. It's about our clients feeling that they can be themselves and bring along whatever they need to their appointments. One lady once brought a fan that she plugged in.

We've even had a lady come for an evening appointment in her pyjamas once, and we were overjoyed.

You can always be yourself at Elm, don't get dressed up for us. We are always in scrubs and trainers! So please, just come as you are. It gives us so much joy that you feel as comfortable as possible ❤️

You may have seen this client's before and after of her skin- we posted it in March.

She did incredibly well with her skin care and was then ready for her first ever Anti-Wrinkle treatment.

Are you using too much product in your skincare routine?🤔

Some clients think that the lines on their face don't match how they feel on the inside; particularly the mouth to chin lines that can make you appear sad.

We discussed where this client would like to see an improvement and what results could be achieved.

The final results make her look rested, as her perioral lines are less deep, and her result looks natural for her age.

Our client Sara first came to us around 2017. The top image of her frowning was taken around that time. The second image was taken last week, she's frowning again and hasn't had anti-wrinkle treatment for 7 months.

Apart from us using a high-quality product from a UK based pharmacy from 'one of the most trusted and respected suppliers', there are several reasons why she looks so good when her treatment is overdue.

She implements what we've taught her about skin health. She stayed consistent with her anti-wrinkle treatments (having it every 3-4 months) for two years until the lines had softened.

Sara's also a sweet person, and this shows on her face. What Roald Dahl said was true: "If you have good thoughts, it will shine out of your face like sunbeams, and you will always look lovely."

It's easy to think that Jade has loads done to her face as she's in Elm quite often.

The reality is that she doesn't have more than anyone else.

Regular Anti-Wrinkle treatments and a course of Seventy Hyal (last October through to February) keep her skin looking fresh and youthful.

Filler, on the other hand, is a different story. We've not treated her lips since 2021, and she's not had cheek filler since 2022. Our premium fillers last well, and we're all about the natural look.

Having said that, we had fun seeing her today to correct some asymmetry in her chin 🤷‍♀️

What are the injection sites for the skin booster, Seventy Hyal?

A common one used at Elm, is the BAP (Bio Aesthetic Points) technique.

When Seventy Hyal is injected using this technique, the primary ingredient Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is diffused through the skin and forms a blanket under the skin to help hydrate the dermis – further aiding in skin texture and skin laxity.
