Halifax Mill Auctioneers
A professional Yorkshire-based auction house, providing cost-effective buying & selling opportunities
Cataloguing for our 29th September sale , front table almost there with various collectables - 12pm start a week on Sunday with the initial catalogue out online from Tuesday 24th π
A great WWI and WWII medal collection in with us on Sunday 29th, all from the same family line, with the main lot being this lovely WWI framed set for a Provaye Frederick AJ Rowe of the 1st and 7th Lancashire Fusileers, who sadly passed in 1918 towards the end of the Great War whilst serving in France - thank you for your service Frederick π
A Beautiful Claire Colinet (1885-1972) Gilded Bronze Female Form figure, highly collectable and not often seen within UK auctions, so a treat to have it in with us within our next sale on Sunday 29th September!
Good morning everyone - so here's something coming up for our 29th September sale that should raise an eyebrow or two of interest if you're into your 1960's pop music memorabilia π
Dusty Springfield is no doubt a name that most people will be familiar with, either growing up having heard her music, as a legendary Irish voice, and/or as an LGBTQ icon, and a lot of us will have seen her on television at some stage..
Well, within our 29th September sale we're proud to be able to auction off a quite rare deleted 16mm film reel of one of her televised showreels (22mins), from 1968, for a programme called Talk of the Town.
Audio songs and audio segments appear to have been around the Internet for a number of years, clipping up the tracks she sang including a version of Shirley Temple's Good Ship Lollypop, but the visual media was assumed 'long considered lost', and according to her fans, somewhat of a holy grail piece!
There should be some digital and print press to follow on about this rarity later in this week and into next, so keep your eyes peeled and if you do know or have any of her fans on your socials, then please share this post as and where possible, thank you π
Due to unforeseen circumstances we're unfortunately having to close the Office/Saleroom today, Friday 6th September. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
Another interesting sale at Halifax Mill Auctioneers yesterday, topped by an excellent result for the WW1 Albert medal set at Β£8,800! Attached are some of my favourites from the day, and we now roll on to our next date on Sunday 29th September π
Sometimes you can have a little, only modest and only supplemental, chuckle whilst cataloguing for an auction - this doll mum, dad & baby are navigating their way down the dolls house' stairs as an exit door slide - I opened the front door to begin lotting up, to this view and couldn't believe the family were ready for the photo π

Sale week comes around again, as does cataloguing excesses, as does one of my favourite parts of our job, photographing the jewellery π
Here are some of our jewellery highlights from the catalogue so far!
Good morning everyone, lots more still to add into the catalogue, but the initial version is now up online via Easy Live Auction and The-Saleroom, much more to go on and be added across today, tomorrow and Thursday to around 500 lots, so do have another few looks as we go through the next couple of days, don't miss out and hope to see some of you on Sunday π

Another intense weekend of cataloguing for us again - here are some of the highlights so far.. More to add through Monday of course, with the initial catalogue being out online first thing Tuesday AM, thank you π
So, lots of photos and lots of sneak previews over the next 48hrs! Signed autographs and signed sporting memorabilia first off!
This collection of autograph books is a really amazing assortment, across F1, Football, Touring Cars, Rally, and Music Stars.. inc Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, David Gilmour, Phil Collins, Denis Law, Kenny Dalglish, allsorts! Take a look across the attached photos π
So the last before bedtime, the final John S. Prescott piece within next Sunday's auction on 1st September - for me this is the one that is more masculine, like a Gaudi interpretation, or a Salvador Dali, or some kind of Philip K Dick Sci-fi interpretation - what a mind and imagination John has! This is one is much bigger at 65cm high!
The second of these amazing John S. Prescott pieces (not Mr Two Jags btw) - this one is called 'Triple Spin', and is roughly 35cm tall π
What a pleasure to have consigned a number of rare, unseen and one-off crafted large jewellery/trinket boxes for the next sale on 1st September, from the British designer John S. Prescott! His works, centred around incredible and imaginative one-off creations, using a mixture of materials including inlaid woods, gilding and abalone, are really something - the rainbow effects from the abalone make it look like a person is viewing multiple opal teardrops. The two additional pieces that we'll post photos of shortly, definitely feature an Antonio Gaudi influence, brilliant!
This first piece is titled Collared Dove, and measures around 38cm high, thank you π
Evening everyone - so this will no doubt be one of the highlights for our next sale on 1st September - a militaria collection from a local gentleman's family, a Lance Corporal James Smith (1890-1956) from the Batley area, who was a proud recipient of the rare Albert Medal just after the end of his World War One service, due to his efforts in risking his life, to save others in the town of Wizernes in Northern France in 1919.
These pieces will kick off the sale with us a week on Sunday, as lot numbers 2 through 5, and should create a great level of interest - if you know of any Militaria or Medal collectors or enthusiasts then please do share this as and where you can, thank you.

Appraising & taking in consignments doesn't really stop for us, so with one eye on 1st September and our last sale only just concluded & vendor accounting finishing up, here are a few interesting pieces that are already with us for the sale in three weeks time, including a great Omega Seamaster, an Antique Brazilian Butterfly Tray, & an excellent 1930 Sterling Silver Aynsley Coffee Set π
Thank you to everyone who came to yesterday's auction sale - some of the highlights or one-offs are attached here photo-wise.. No big money headliners this time around, but a few solid results and a good price for the Concertina/Squeezebox at Β£750, so if you've got one at home, then make sure you take care of it π
Next sale for us will be the first Sunday week of September - although it looks like a month out of the diary for us, we will still be appraising & accepting goods through August, ready for four sales across the Autumn.
Although some auction houses continue with regular sales through August just given volumes of goods and periodical sale timings, its widely known in the trade, that buyer interest and hammer prices drop off across the summer holidays, so if you have got any heirlooms or collectables ready to sell, whether it be with us or elsewhere, you'd be far better off holding on to them for entry into an early Autumn sale.. that's our two pennies worth anyway!
Buyer pick up collections from Sunday's sale start tomorrow from 10am, thank you again.
As well as the large jewellery and assorted coin/numismatic collections for Sunday, do remember that from Lot 200 onwards, we've still got the second half of the TRAIN RAILWAY MODELS collectors lots, so don't miss out- please share with any train collectors you might know, thank you π

Our initial catalogue for Sunday 28th July is up and online as we speak, but with much more to be added later today and into the rest of this week - have a good look now to whet your appetite and then have a revisit on Thu/Fri for what should be the full 450/500 or so total for the weekend π

The eternal question of whether or not a person can have too much Royal Albert Old Country Roses Dinner/Tea Wares looks to have been finally answered.... Still a NO then ππ€.. Lots 122 to 127!
Next Auction Sale for us on Sunday 28th July, with the initial catalogue upload online later this evening.

So Part Two of the Great Train Sale, or Great Train Robbery or whatever makes sense to you guys is here, choo choo! I'm back into photographing and detailing the volumes of locos, diesels, carriages and accessories again - very similar to the last sale on 30/06, and roughly the same amount of lots again across Hornby, Bachmann, Heljan, Fleischmann, Roco, Lima, Mehano, Trix and Liliput brands, so if you know anybody who might be keen railway model enthusiasts or toy train collectors of any sort, then please do share this post across the socials - the SUNDAY 28th JULY catalogue in its initial version will be out online on Monday!

Another couple of great Gold Sovereigns consigned with us for Sunday 28th July just yesterday - next Tuesday (23rd) roughly will be the final day for anything coming into the catalogue for the 28th, so if there us anything you'd like to be considered then please do drop us a line.
Wednesday's enquiries included a lovely Gold Garrard watch plus a nice Omega De Ville, so as always, we'll have a good run of jewellery and timepieces to build around.
More catalogue photos and previews to follow over the coming days, so keep your eyes out and peeled π
One final thing too, on the subject of PARKING OUTSIDE THE AUCTION ROOM, as the council in their wisdom have disabled the main larger car park to our left and forced all commuter cars into the smaller areas in front of our auction building.
If for whatever reason you can't find a space Mon-Fri and you're dropping off or even just coming in for an enquiry, then please use the double yellows in front of our building - strictly speaking it is there for loading and unloading anyway, so any parking attendants should have little to say.
Our 28th July catalogue is going to start off with a local family's array of coins, which we're currently in the process of cataloguing and going through, from Gold Sovereigns to Silver Proofs, Ingots and Commemorative Sets, its a great assortment and reflects a real passion for collecting.
Attached is a photo from the first batch of the gold examples!
A bit of trumpet blowing today about this nice collection of original Clarice Cliff pieces that are in with us within our next catalogue, on 28th July..
Coming from a lovely local home and really well kept and taken care of, they'll be going under the hammer in a few weeks time, so if you know any collectors keen to add to their passion for Art Deco, then please share this post π
Good morning everyone, so another good sale yesterday and the first half of the railway train collection went off without a hitch, which was a good thing in advance of 28th July and the remainder of the train consignment going under the hammer!
The Winston Churchill/Eden signature book was a positive at Β£550, but the main highlights were mostly around the jewellery, just reaffirming our position as one of the best Auctioneers for jewellery in Yorkshire, attached are the top three financials from Sunday, including a higher than expected result for the Rolex Oyster Quartz at Β£2,900!
The company did stop making that model in 2001, so possibly that level of rarity for a battery operated version pushed those bidders on somewhat towards more of a retail price point , for what could well be an antique of the future?
Thank you to those people who came through yesterday to bid and view at the Saleroom, plus everyone online, and we'll see you all for the next date on 28th July π
Just a quick reminder that we're kicking off that one hour earlier tomorrow, at 11am opposed to noon due to the England Euros match @ 5pm - some nice things in that first 50 or so lots including Mouseman, Moorcroft, and Mad Max! So don't Miss out π
Good morning everyone, so as we always do, let's have a run through of some of the nice jewellery pieces that are listed with us for Sunday's 11am sale.
Starting at lot 80, attached are roughly forty of my highlights, plus the watches, which include two Omegas, a Rolex (to be sold without reserve so don't miss out!), and a lovely Longines, and also a rare 22ct Queen Victoria Β£5 Gold coin.
See you all at the weekend π

As well as the initial catalogue being out there and online (with additions going in and on as we speak), I just wanted to remind people about the specialist train and railway model part of the sale on Sunday from 11am, from LOT NUMBER 200..
Part II of the Railway sale will be coming through within our next sale, so don't miss that either, on Sunday 28th July! Here is the link for the initial catalogue as it stands:
