Lately we've had a lot of people asking why we don't fit third party parts, Theres a very good reason for that. The pictures below show a chain that was brought in that a customer wanted fitting, the box says Shimano but as you can see on the chain links its stamped Shuimao, it's a counterfeit. Being nice people we are we advised them that it was a fake but never the less they wanted it fitting. They've just popped back in with the bike for one of our chains as its links have started seizing up.
This has solidified our reasoning and we definitely will not be fitting third party parts ever again, This chain came off a well known auction site for £3.50, You get what you pay for ;)

Well i can't Believe its Easter Weekend Already. Hope the Easter Bunny will be leaving plenty of eggs for you all.
We are open Friday and Saturday 8am-3pm so if you fancy a bike instead of a chocolate egg you know where to come ;)

Well we've just had a good laugh, There's nothing better than a customer bringing his 3 kids just for sizing and telling us that he's seen bikes they want at Smyths Toys. I hope he knows he was looking at the wrong sizes when we were watching him lift the bikes out on the camera. Fingers crossed he doesn't ask us to build the bikes for them to be the wrong size ;)

Well thats 2 services just done. The 20" needed a good service, crank bearings on drive side and a set of handlebar grips all for £28.50.
The Ribble Gravel Bike just a service and a very very deep clean of the chain and cassette for £30.
After seeing the way prices have gone lately at well known outlets you couldnt get one bike serviced for £58.50 let alone both.
And as always, any bikes dropped off in a morning are serviced and ready to go the same day :)

An early 1990/91 Diamondback sorrento, I even remember selling them new. upgraded to 24 Speed Shimano 200GS with the famous Biopace eliptical chainset and 8 speed Shimano road bike shifters converted to Gravel spec. A Lot of people think gravel bikes are a new idea but they've been going for decades. Isn't it a Beauty :)

When you bring your bike in it goes straight into our workstand and given a good look over with you, Not all bikes need a service and its just minor tweaks like brake or gear set for only £10 🙂
Full Service Prices
£15 wheel size 12" to 20"
£30 for 24" to full size adults
More or less a strip and rebuild. We clean and re-oil all cables, re-set brakes & gears,(hydro brake bleeding is extra) , l**e chain, bttm bracket, headset, re-align wheels, gas tyres and check every nut and bolt on your cycle (basically a full reset and l**e)
Most places charge in excess of £70 for the same service we offer, with a much longer turnaround, which lets all be honest, is just ridiculous.
Dont fall for big chains, shop local for whatever you require and keep Halifax on the map.
And remember any parts bought from us, we will fit free of charge

Just remember when you go to halfords for a free check over they wont fix or repair they just quote to replace. The bike weve had in today was a £126 quote from the huddersfield branch by Arren. All it needed was a 10 minute reset as it already had new gear cables in and they had simply stretched. The rest of it we don't know where he was looking or if he even checked it thoroughly. Spoke to the manager about the matter and we would have got more sense out of the wall especially after they hang up ;)

Had a great time away but now im really happy to get the hands back oily. We are back open on our usual days :)

Hi everyone, After today we will be away until Wednesday the 24th of January celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary, and yes i can't believe Helen has put up with me for that long either :)

What do you think to the finished 1984 Aero Destroyer BMX, 90% original only tyres, cables and pads replaced. We think by far its the best example we've had in of an original BMX and the old lad was happy he got to build it. One down two more projects to go :)

To anybody needing big repairs, we can do Today and Tuesday. We will be closed on Wednesday as Phil is having a minor operation and needs a chauffer for the day. Normal hours will resume from Friday the 1st for remedial repairs and sales as he's going to need at least a week off so it will be me (Adam) and boss number 2 (Mum) :)
