Alan Waha - J99 Further West

Big day for J99 Further West; forecast was for a peachy day, which deserved respect, and which reasonably would have seen us stay in harbour ahead of this weeks J-Cup. however we wanted to test the boat in stronger wind as we have not had those conditions yet, and need to build skills and confidence as we go offshore. We decided to start and race to Hurst, where we would decide to continue or come home, in any event, the wind turned out stronger than forecast, with 40knots gusts, but we felt perfectly under control under J3 and one reef, sailing fast; confirming that we have the made the right choice in selecting a J99 for offshore racing; after the Needles, we settled on a (very fast) reach doing 15-16-17 knots under white (black) sails; setting a new top speed at 20.1 knots.

No Drama - just smiles all the way on our J.”

Baptism by fire 🔥

J112e "Thinking Space" was freshly launched just a couple of weeks ago, and the team has been working tirelessly to prepare her in time for Round the Island. Bill, Jamie, Harry, Seb, and friends took on the challenge and successfully completed their first race! Despite a punchy forecast, they rose to the occasion.

The J112e performed exceptionally, demonstrating her capabilities in the demanding conditions. Bill shared his thoughts on the experience: "The boat handled beautifully, even in the toughest parts of the race. It was a baptism by fire, but we couldn't have asked for a better performance from her."

Congratulations to the team for an impressive debut! Here's to many more successful races ahead. ⛵️🔥
