Families were burning with excitement when Ian from Big Hat Bushcamp visited our Guildford hospice, Christopher's. A shelter tent was set up in the garden, where a roaring firepit was ready and blazing.
Families and in-house children braved the rain and smoke to toast marshmallows, bake bread, and even learn some fire starting survival skills🔥💙
A huge thank you to Arundel & Elgin Gardens for their incredible fundraising efforts across three different events hosted this summer. These included an opening for the National Garden Scheme, a champagne, strawberries, and cake stall at Shakespeare in the Square, and the annual Summer Party bake sale🍰

We did a quick poll of the office ahead of today's match to see if it's coming home👀 As you can see, we're a team of optimists here at Shooting Star. Although it looks like someone is keeping us grounded!🤣
Leia is splashing her way into the weekend🌊🙌
As the rain keeps falling, we're feeling very grateful to have indoor spaces such as our hydrotherapy pool for children and families to enjoy💙
This we want to say a huge THANK YOU to the Community Massage Project. They have attended many of our events and painted lots of smiling faces, including our Ariel drop-in and our open day. They also have provided massage at our family fun day and Dad's takeaway night💆♂️
Their unwavering dedication to providing an amazing experience for all of our supported and bereaved families is hugely appreciated💙
Our Chief Executive, Paul Farthing, has been busy signing thank you letters to some of the many amazing donors who have supported us with a regular gift for an incredible 20 years. Of course, as it’s such an important task we asked Gabby to supervise.
Supporting with a regular gift is truly priceless. It means that we can plan ahead for the months and years to come, ensuring that we can make every moment count, for families, like Gabby’s.
Whether you choose to give monthly, quarterly, or annually, a small amount can make a big difference. Find out more➡️ https://loom.ly/Y-m4Yho
This , we celebrate Alex, who conquered the heights of Ben Nevis for Shooting Star💪💙

Whether you volunteer, fundraise in the community, are a corporate supporter, make donations to our shops, or support Shooting Star in any way, we appreciate YOU!✨

Today is a momentous day for the UK, as of course, it sees the launch of four brave souls from Beachcomber Tours take part in the Travel Trade Crusade.
This involves driving an old banger around Europe whilst doing ridiculously silly challenges along the way, all in the name of Shooting Star💙
Good luck Rowen, Luke, Rob, and Hannah➡️ https://loom.ly/AH1H_-E

Today, we honor and support parents who have experienced the death of a child. Since launching our Specialist Bereavement Service, we have been able to extend our support to families whose child dies suddenly and unexpectedly. We are here to support all families who find themselves in need of our specialist bereavement care➡️ https://loom.ly/SLbyv70
With this year's theme being Love Lives On, we wanted to reflect this by sharing a few of the beautiful cards from our Wall of Love, a space where bereaved parents can leave messages to their child💙
A Child Of Mine - Supporting Bereaved Parents |
We're halfway through 2024, and it's a chance to reflect... 🗓️
Over the last financial year we've seen large increases in the number of supported children referred to us, as well as in bereaved families using our Specialist Bereavement Service. We're continuing our work to raise awareness so we can be there for every family that needs us, while ensuring that the quality of care we provide remains consistently high.

To all those heading to Pride in London today, we hope you have a fantastic time!🌈
We have been celebrating Pride Month throughout Shooting Star - we particularly love our Godalming shop's front window display😍
Last weekend, Matthew set off from Christopher's, with friends Neil and David to embark on a 300-mile bike ride in memory of his son, Toby.
In the weeks leading up to Christmas in 2022, Toby was diagnosed with adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), a rare brain disease that irreversibly damages the brain and spinal cord.
Following Toby’s diagnosis, the whole family were supported by Shooting Star Children’s Hospices and were able to spend time with him at our Guildford hospice, Christopher’s, to say goodbye and make precious memories.
A huge well done to Matthew, Neil, and David for completing this amazing challenge💙

At the start of the month, Yano and Nick ran the Victoria Park Half Marathon in memory of Yano's niece Ayla, who died suddenly last year.
