It's Product Day! Today's hero is the Hallite 657 fl**ge seal

The 657 seal is designed to fit SAE J518 fl**ges. It overcomes high pressure and shock loading, which commonly cause pumping problems when using O-rings in fl**ge sealing applications, preventing reliable sealing.

The Hallite 657 is moulded in Hythane® 181, Hallite’s high-performance polyurethane, for easy installation and excellent low temperature performance. It is also offered in an industrial standard grade of polyurethane.

Seal Profile Basics: there are two types of U-Cups - asymmetrical and symmetrical, but there are several profiles.

Take the symmetrical loaded U-Cup, for example:

1. Can be used interchangeably as a rod or piston seal
2. Less stable in the groove under pressure – Heel of seal is forced against the OD and ID of the groove
3. Energizer included for more positive static lip sealing
4. Offered in straight (511/512) and bevelled (513) trim styles
