Celebratory lunch for Dr Bill Webster BEM.
Last week we hosted a special celebratory lunch in recognition of a dear friend and colleague of ours, who was honoured with the British Empire Medal (BEM), in the King’s New Years Honours.
Dr Bill Webster is a worldwide expert in his field of bereavement support and grief counselling and has worked with us over many years, hosting seminars and workshops for local professionals and the public.
Dr Webster will receive his BEM in a couple of weeks in his home country of Canada. In recognition of his award, he and his wife were invited to attend the King’s Garden party held last Wednesday. Dr Webster said “it was a truly magical day attending Buckingham Palace. We were treated to a limousine courtesy of Daniel Robinson & Sons to take us there and back. The palace gardens are magnificent, and we were very lucky to see the King, Queen and many of the Royal Family”.
The following day, we invited local friends and colleagues to join us with a surprise lunch. Dr Webster said, “it was a massive surprise to have lunch again the following day, and to meet friends and colleagues, old and new”.
Following the lunch, Dr Webster spoke about his own grief journey when he lost his first wife suddenly in the late 1980’s. How he struggled and found It difficult to cope. This inspired him to study and then set up The Centre for the Grief Journey. Through his many books, seminars and his own TV show, he has helped thousands of people all over the world who are struggling with grief and loss.
It was our pleasure to be able to host the celebratory lunch, and great to see Dr Webster honoured in this way. He has been an inspiration to many over the years. Our staff and those on their own grief journey local to us have been helped by Bills extensive knowledge and reassuring delivery to bring them understanding and comfort.
Dr Webster will be returning to the UK later in the year. Daniel Robinson & Sons will be hosting a seminar, with the dates yet to be decided. The dates will be announced on our page.

The weather was very kind to us, and the visitors generous as well. A huge thank you to everyone who came and supported us, we raised over just over £400 in total. We look forward to seeing you all again next year”.

This weekend, 16 teams gathered to play for the Old Harlow Bowls Club annual “Rose Bowl Trophy”. A wet beginning to the day did not deter them, and fun was had by all. Pictures show the winner of the Spider Competition receiving his bottle of champagne, and a team delighted to receive their DRS goodie bags.
