☔️WEATHER WATCH DOG SHOW CANCELLED
Well this is the problem with pushing the event back a few weeks.

Unfortunately due to weather conditions which look like this weather is in for the day depending on what weather report we look at, we are going to have to cancel the dog show, as it looks like there is a chance of more rain later.

All those early registrations I will contact you by email for refunds.

Do you have a talented pooch, the prettiest pup or a golden oldie? If so, why not bring them down to the fun dog show this Sunday, you never know, they may win one of the rosettes up for grabs or even best in show!

Registration starts at 11am.

Don't forget next weekend the Fun Dog Show at Pets' Corner and there is still the option to register early saves time as it can get busy at registration on the day.

We are open as normal

As you may be aware the bluetongue virus restricted zone and infected area has been extended to cover Essex. As a precaution we are taking extra measures to protect our animals.

Bluetongue virus is primarily transmitted by midge bites and affects ruminant animals such as cattle, goats, sheep, deer, llamas and alpacas. Keepers of these animals are being are being asked to remain vigilant and follow the restrictions on animals and movements that apply.

The virus is nothing for you to be concerned about. We remain open as normal as the disease does not affect people.

We already have established measures in place to protect the animals that are much loved here at Pets’ Corner. The safety of our animals and you is always our number one priority. Our team are keeping an extra eye on the animals including carrying out regular checks for any virus symptoms and ensuring controls are in place.

We're so, so proud to have once again retained our zoo licence for another 6 years! 🙌

The process involved a rigorous inspection, where we had to prove that we were meeting all the expected standards that go with keeping exotic species whilst open to the public.

The inspector was extremely positive about what they had seen, most of which occurs behind the scenes, but also received great feedback from the public and students whilst visiting.

It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to maintain the high standards required for keeping animals of all shapes and sizes, and we are so pleased that it has paid off once again!

🐷Our Female piglet has been named!

🐖On Monday we held a public competition to name our female piglet, as she will be staying with us here at Pets' Corner.

🐷The winning name is Poppy

👀 Have you seen Peggy's adorable ginger Piglets 🐖?

Peggy, our rare breed Tamworth Pig, kept Pets' Corner staff on their toes waiting for the arrival of her piglets. In a timely fashion, they arrived on the 19th July at 3am.

We have 4 very healthy piglets, 1 girl and 3 boys, they are growing fast. The girl will be staying here with us, so she is going to need a name!

This bank holiday Monday pop down to Pets Corner for your chance to name our piglet 🐷

Just over a week to go until we celebrate another Gem of Harlow 💎

Join the Chair of the Council, Andrew Johnson, for a special afternoon tea at the Harlow Museum and Walled Gardens on Saturday 24 august ☕

The afternoon promises to be a fun-filled affair with entertainment, classic lawn games and a bar, as well as the opportunity for a guided tour of the museum.

Tickets are on sale now and are £25 each plus £1.50 booking fee (which includes a glass of Prosecco or a soft drink), with proceeds going towards the Chair's chosen charities, Harlow Steelband and Rainbow Services (Harlow).

🥳A huge congratulations to all of the team at Pets' Corner, both staff and volunteers, for another successful Zoo Licencing Inspection.

Every 6 years Pets' Corner has to undergo a vigorous, full Licencing inspection to ensure we are meeting the expected standards, allowing us to house exotic species whilst being open to the public. The inspector was extremely positive about what he had seen, most of which occurs behind the scenes, but also recieved great feedback from public and students.

The team work extremely hard 365 days of the year, in the rain, snow, storms or heat waves, they are there, caring for the Pets' Corner family to the highest of standards.

Well Done Team you should all be very proud 👏

We have an exciting opportunity for 12 - 17 year olds to get involved in a fun filled action packed animal based day at Pets' Corner this summer holidays.

These activity days are specifically for children that have a keen interest in animals and don't mind getting mucky!

We have two days available
19th August Animal Care Day 12 - 14yrs
30th August Animal Career Day 15 - 17yrs

There are limited spaces available, suitable applications recieved first will be given a place. A £10 non refundable deposit will be required in advance.

University College London (UCL) are conducting this research into the impacts of living in 'Permitted Housing' know as PDRs - a building that has been repurposed as s dwelling from another use. We have been campaigning and supporting many families and individuals who have lived and are living in such dwellings in our Harlow Community and are aware of potential health impacts that can include access to GP, schools, transport, noise pollution and potential damp.

There are 2 free bookable sessions next week, on Tues 16th July
each session is for 2 hours and participants will receive a £40 'love to shop' voucher for their time.

Sessions will be at the Learning Centre in Harlow Town Park and we created a free booking link we will share below. It's time residents are listened to and health impacts shared 🙏
