It’s AGM time and we have a new addition at the meeting - young Arthur who was very supportive of all the proposals!
First load of new crop just in. So far so good! This load looked and tested out well. The year has not been so easy especially with all the unthreshed grains. Please farmers no more of these please.
Great to see the amazing work of Ben Nathan exhibiting in Enfield collaborating with a group of community workers, children, young people and volunteers. These guys are doing fantastic work for the community. Pinhole cameras are the most basic form of camera possible, consisting of a light proof container with a very small hole which is covered by tape. When the tape is removed and light passes in through the pinhole, the scene outside is captured on photographic paper secured inside. Check out their work at the in Enfield. Hats off to you all! ❤️
Great day visiting some amazing farmers in Kent with our friends The wheat is looking really good despite the weather challenges. Just need some sun to boost those grains. 🤞🤞🤞🤞.

Arthur James meet James Arthur.
Margaret, my mum and James’ grandmother, lovingly known as Mimi to the family passed away this week. She has been bravely fighting pancreatic cancer for two years. Although she did not make the century she was looking for she would have been 95 in a couple of weeks and she truly had a wonderful life and was a great inspiration to all her family of four children, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She lived at the mill for most of her life and will be fondly remembered by many that work here. She was a keen gardener and was often seen making the plants and flowers around the yard and office look good. She loved the mill. Good bye amazing lady we will miss you.
We bid a fond farewell to Richard Hawes today who is retiring after 12 years with the business. Able, effective and more a congenial guy you will struggle to find. Good luck Richard and best wishes for a long, happy and healthy retirement. We had the retirement party in even made him make his own farewell lunch using .

Meet Hamish, our new Head of Grass Cutting at Ponders End.
The Old Mill building dates back to 1650 when it was partially rebuilt and was known as Flanders Mill because the tenant John Lequoe was born in Freton in Flanders. Parts of the building remain from Elizabethan times where it is believed that some of the large wooden beams came from the shipwrecked galleons of the Spanish Armada.
Giving the .uk pizza oven a spin this evening! The whole family is giving it a go!. Hope everyone has had a great Christmas! 🍕🍕🍕🍕
This week we say goodbye to Myron Standley who after 16 years hangs up his baker’s whites for the last time to take a well earned break. He’s worked for many of the other flour millers but fully admits that Wrights were his favourite! We all wish you well Myron for a long, happy and healthy retirement and thank you for all the excellent work you’ve done for us over the last 16 years.
A very happy retirement to Alex Waugh director of the UK Flour Millers. Thank you for your incredible contribution to our industry, your friendship and your guidance through a few choppy waters over the last thirty odd years.

Great to have been at The Essex Schools Farm and Food and Farming day. These youngsters getting their hands dirty and learning where their food actually comes from. Such a great experience for them and for me seeing how much they got from the event. Well done Essex Agricultural Society, Writtle College and Essex CC.

Our Story
At Wright’s Flour Mills we specialise in making the very best quality flours and mixes for your baking. All made by a family business with 150 years milling know how.
With it's 17th century mill flanked by a Georgian mill house and Georgian offices, and close by, a 16th century great barn and numerous other listed buildings, Ponders End Mills is one of the most complete groupings of historical industrial buildings still being worked in Greater London. This rare survivor is set within meadows bisected by a tributary of the River Lea, and is something of an oasis in Ponders End's industrial landscape. However, appearances can be deceptive as behind the historic facade is a large, modern food-factory - with a number of state-of-the-art facilities - which operates to standards of quality and hygiene, which satisfy the most discerning of clients.
When George Wright first came to Ponders End Mills some 150 years ago, he established a simple business principle - products which were to bear his name would be made with only the finest ingredients, using the most modern techniques. Four generations later, this principle is still being followed by his great, great grandson David Wright.
