3rd Harrogate Scout Group
3rd Harrogate (St. John's) Scout Group, based in Bilton. We have Beavers, Cubs and Scout sections
We had an amazing weekend at our Group Camp. The beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers enjoyed a wide variety of activities over 2 days. We even managed to watch the England football! We are proud of them all!
We will be at Richard Taylor School providing the BBQ, this Friday. Come along and support our fundraising as well as the school!
Yesterday our Beavers attended a Fun Day at Hesley Wood. It is fair to say they all had a fun time!
Thank you to our amazing voluntary leaders for giving up their time to take them!
Last weekend our Cubs enjoyed a hike and camp Thornthwaite Scout Camp Site. Thank you to our amazing volunteers for giving their time and planning!
We're here at the scout hut until 3pm. Lots of stalls plus refreshments including bacon butties and hot dogs. We also have a toliet facilities.
Don't forgot to pop along for a bacon butty and some bargains tomorrow!

It's our turn for Bilton Advent Calendar. Come and see our lovely Christmas bunting across our windows, made by our Beavers and Cubs. Here's a sneak peek at one of the windows.
Our Cherokee and Commanche Beavers enjoyed a visit to Stockeld Park this week.
CHURCH PARADE - TOY SERVICE
SUN 3RD DEC 2023, 10.10am until 11.20am
On Sun 3rd Dec 2023 it will be our regular Church Parade at St Johns Church in Bilton and a special toy service.
This is a particularly special Church Service and as part of the service the Church will be collecting new presents to distribute to children in need within the local area to give out to children who otherwise may not receive a present.
We would love as many Beavers, Cubs and Scouts as possible to join us on this special Church Parade service. We do understand that all sorts of other commitments get in the way on a Sunday morning but we do like to turn up and represent 3rd Harrogate and the Church that we are associated with (and who own the land that our Scout Hut is sat upon!)
If you are able to bring a new toy to donate to the Church at the parade then it will be very much appreciated
If you are unable to attend the service but are able to donate a present then we shall be collecting these at our sessions week commencing 20th November or week commencing 27th November and we shall deliver these to the Church at the parade service.
Your support and attendance would be very much appreciated
😀The 3rd Harrogate Team😀
Last night Maya Scouts did a radio comms and navigation exercise. Teams were directed to control points on their map using radios. On arrival they had to answer a question about their checkpoint, either information from the checkpoint card or from the checkpoint itself.
The radio exercise practiced communication skills in a situation where only voice was possible. "Travel West along the footpath at the edge of the field until you reach an electricity pylon", made harder in the dark. They also experienced radio protocol on a controlled radio network where multiple stations need to request communication with Control and only one person can talk at once.
Not all checkpoints were on their map. Some had to be found by following directions over the radio. The Scouts had to mark their map with where they believed the checkpoint to be.
This week our Beavers have done a L'egg'o challenge.
Last night, Argon Cubs learnt about Diwali, tried some traditional sweets and lit candles.
Remembrance Day Parade
We had a great turnout for the Remembrance Day Parade today. 13 Scouts (6 Incas & 7 Mayas), Explorers and Leaders (and a Beaver, whose parent is leader).
We are proud of all of them.
Harrogate and Nidderdale Scouts
Some of our Maya Scouts went on a Hike today.
Our Cherokee and Comanche Beavers worked hard this week to make poppies that are on display in our hut.
This week, our Beavers met together to have a talk from RNLI and the cubs did some work on their navigator badge.
Maya's scouts were out fire lighting, last night!
Welcome to the 3rd Harrogate (St. John's) Scout Group page. We will be sharing what our Beavers, Cubs and Scout sections get up too.
Here are some pictures of the last couple of weeks activities.
