Houses are built but homes evolve and this Reno project has been a 12 month labour of love for our family so far…. Yes it continues but things have come together beautifully internally. Render to be started this week then scaffolding can come down which will make an enormous difference. Kitchen bifold blinds being fitted today and hopefully cinema room curtains before end of the month. Upstairs landing carpet to be relaid after Mrs B decided we needed to paint over the black feature wall (it looks 100000000 times better). Patio to be laid, decking to be built, driveway to be sorted and garden will have to be rotovated and reseeded! Anyone want a static btw? Two bed great for temporary accommodation or site office.

Evolution of the kitchen which forms the heart of the home in our renovation project in Harrogate. Loving the champagne aged mirrored splash back which just lends yet another dimension to this stunning dining/living kitchen space.

And the other big decisions we have had has been paint colours! The whole family is getting stuck in which isn’t easy when two are away at uni in Newcastle but… we are making progress. The bedrooms are all going to be fairly neutral colours the master bring a beautiful warm but not dark taupe, bedroom 2 is more of a mink grey/taupe/pink, bedroom 3 I think will be a warm muted grey palette, bedroom 4 to be decided hopefully this weekend and 5 &6 we are leaving white (we may add feature walls later). The entrance hall, staircase and lounge are all Egyptian Cotton and we are still considering the kitchen. Cinema room a beautiful rich plum called Grape Soda for a sumptuous elegant feeling and which will reflect t the plum velvet L-shaped sofa we have bought for the kitchen. The office will be a gorgeous warm rich green and hopefully boss man can be petsyaded to fo with a slightly OTT fun paper for tje downstairs bathroom for that element of surprise.
What pallettes float your boat? How did you make your paint choices?

This week has been exciting first off we have been choosing and buying lights! This house deserves statements and so boss lady has been on the case scouring and sourcing and these are her latest buys. Two stunning Tom Dixon Melt Pendants from a House Clearance Warwhouse -originally bought from Libertys of London for a Mayfair flat at £960 each the lady who bought them changed her mind and stored them until tje flat clearance -we got them both including packaging and courier for £200!! Thinking hallway possibly. When not lit up they are opaque gold but when lit look like molten lava.
The next light our son had chosen online and she sourced from a local lady who had bought it tried it in a bedroom but decided against it. Was £89 without the six bulbs, bought for £40 including 6 brand new bulbs!
The third is for over the breakfast bar and was found online in the sale with a further discount code so came in at £107 including 8 dimmable filament bulbs.
And finally for the lighting section is the piece de resistance the chandelier of dreams. Bought from an ex-colleague who has moved into a stunning very large flat from an Edwardian mansion but loved it so much took it with her. Sadly she’s realised there is nowhere for it as her new ceilings are too low, she advertised it on IG just as boss lady was scrolling and there it was! Secured for £200! Bargain of the century. But… where to put it? It deserves to be seen so… staircase, lounge, master bedroom, cinema room? Wherever it goes it will be loved.
So an eclectic mix for sure but it means each room will have its own identity rather than being the same throughout.
What do you think? 🤔 do you prefer a theme running throughout or are you a fan of individual room identities with a commonality tying them together?

Transformed our previous family home from this 3 bed 1 bath semi with a galley kitchen to this 5 bed 3 bath with magnificent dining kitchen. Included rear extension, demolition of garage and double storey side extension with integral garage and loft conversion. We created a superb family home but were ready to move on to the next one. 2012 to 2021

Apologies for the silence recently we have been super busy with family and our own renovation. Finished a renovation for a wonderful local family as well and got them in for Christmas.
Our own renovation is coming together well. We had self levelling screed down on 22nd and we were able to “host” Lesley’s parents on Christmas Eve in our new bedroom which was a bit of fun.
Yesterday our bifolds went in 2 sets in the kitchen and one in the cinema room and we are thrilled with how they look. Videos coming next.
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and stay safe in these awful high winds. Have to admit it’s not much fun living in a caravan in this weather!

Been a while since we posted so here goes. Current state of our hallway! We are creating a dog room and a grand entrance hall out of this space. The lounge is currently having three fireplace removed to give more space and through the door looking out to the garden is the kitchen or at least it will be. Not going to be in for Christmas but this renovation will be incredible when it is completed. More vids and pictures to come.

A complete renovation underway in Harrogate from photo one to the last photo is less than a month. Of course good weather always helps progress but so far the cinema room at the back is up and the kitchen extension is to first floor, there will be a first floor above that. The scaffolding is now up so watch this space for what happens in the next week. Building inspectors are happy and the engineer came out yesterday to discuss all things joists!

How about a cheeky extension on Whinney Lane, Harrogate? Insulation, waterproof tanking, underfloor heating and self levelling concrete screed. A lovely job and lovely customers, the sun has even made an appearance. 😎
