The Happy Hot Dog Hotel Thank you for our pup’s Natural Treats variety pack - as you can see, she is as pleased as punch with it! I look forward to seeing you this week for a garden tidy 😊
Winter window boxes at The Timble Inn.
October’s flower of the month - It’s hard to find a flower that will give you unfailing blooms from the end of Summer and throughout Autumn, and the Aster does this. The autumn crocus was one I just had to tag on, as it’s just what’s needed to cheer you up on a wet, dreary autumnal day. Unfortunately my limited photography skills don’t do these plants justice!
Out on the rounds this morning and this Rudbeckia has inspired me to post a ‘Plant of the month’ - So here’s September’s, which steals the show, in my opinion!
After my year-long battle with couch grass and two months on from replanting this once overgrown shrubby border, things are beginning to spring into life.
Despite the changeable weather, the summer bedding plants at The Timble Inn are doing their thing!
A spot of weeding today.
Time to brighten up those Winter baskets with some tete-a-tete and polyanthus.
Nothing beats a trip to the wholesalers.
I have had a lovely afternoon, planting for a regular customer, looking to improve Winter interest in her gardens for next year - Left: Ilex ‘Golden King’ (Variegated Holly), which produces vibrant red berries, providing there is a male Ilex nearby. Right: Daphne Bholua ‘Spring Beauty’, which produces beautifully scented Winter blooms.
Here is a photograph from last February of a narrow fence border that I was asked to plant up, with the added challenge of an east-facing aspect and plants which were non-toxic to dogs. The customer was looking for a tidy look, with subtle flowers and all-year-round interest. I chose Heuchera, evergreen grass, dwarf ferns and ajuga varieties in repetition, to create a striking and elegant border. With seasonal bedding and hanging baskets which I provide, this border now has colour all throughout the year. As with all my planting design projects, a detailed yearly maintenance guide is included, however in this case, the customers opted for regular garden maintenance.
A touch of colour at The Timble Inn to brighten up this rainy, autumnal day.
