We have become an Employee Ownership Trust which means that the leadership team from within the current staff will keep this practice fully independent - continuing to offer the same high quality patient centred services that you have come to expect and rely on from Chris and his team over the past 44 years. COVID-19 UPDATE

First and foremost we would like to thank all of our patients for your continuing support through these challenging times and for adhering to our safety measures so well. We have managed to avoid any significant disruption from COVID-19 over the past year.

On Monday 19th July the country enters the final stage of restriction easing.
In order to safeguard patient and staff health we will still be taking precautions throughout the practice and would respectfully ask that you continue to bring a face covering to your appointments for the foreseeable future.

PRODUCT RECALL

Bausch & Lomb have issued a recall on certain batches of Biotrue and Boston Solution due to a problem in the manufacture of the bottles. If you have recently purchased either solution from us please feel free to call in and check the barcode. We will of course replace any recalled product with a suitable alternative

COVID-19 UPDATE
Lockdown 3.0

Here at Christopher Nixon Optometrists the welfare of our staff and patients is paramount and now, more than ever your health and safety are our top priority. We are pleased to let you know we will remain open during the current lockdown starting January 7th and will be offering all essential eyecare services albeit by appointment only and with a slightly reduced capacity, continuing to consider the health and safety of all in the practice. We may ask you to postpone your routine appointment beyond the lockdown period if deemed non-essential - please call if you are unsure.

As many of you will have seen already, the practice is as safe as possible for us all - a one way system has been implemented, limits on numbers in clinic rooms and protective screens are in place to comply with government Covid-19 certification.

We are of course using appropriate personal protective equipment and do ask that you refrain from visiting if you have any Covid-19 symptoms.

Evidence of retrograde trans-synaptic degeneration in the ganglion cell layer of both eyes (temporal loss RE and nasal loss LE) following a cycling accident where the primary injury sustained by a 51 year old male was C1 and C2 vertebrae damage along with right side occipital lobe where our vision resides .... this type of sequential degeneration was thought until recently to occur only from neonatal brain damage but we can use OCT to map these changes.

Please bring in your used lenses and blister packs and we will recycle in an environmentally friendly fashion and this also helps raise money for our chosen charity, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Most people know that contact lenses are plastic, but did you know that you can recycle your used lens and their packets!
TerraCycle will send you a little box that you can fill with your used lenses and contact blister packs. Once full you can print a free label to post it back so the materials can be remade in to new products.
